That is not good news, the same weekend as the Race for life Turkey is on.

In our defense, we chose the Race for Life date long before the mushroom festival date has been announced and if you think about it, our event will be over by 11:00am for most people so still plenty of time to head up and join the celebrations in Uzumlu.

I have never been to the mushroom festival and am lucky enough to be out from 7th -20th April this year. We've booked Sunday lunch at the wine house on 12th......what sort of stuff can we expect in the village that day? Thanks

Normally there are all sorts of stalls selling crafts and home made goodies, some for charity others private sellers. There is usually some kind of entertainment and maybe there will be some live music in the evenings. People who love there can probably elaborate.

Mushroom soup conjured up in a big black cauldron set on a wood fire in the square
Every family in the village selling homemade pancakes, meatballs, azure pudding.
Homemade awnings stretched between the village houses on the main street
Carpets draped on the walls. Reminiscent of Bedouin tents
Pop up stalls and shops selling handicrafts, fancy goods, magic carpets, many run by the villagers themselves.
A wander through the side streets accompanied by the sound of the looms " clacking "
A large stage in the centre of the village showcasing an array of entertainment. Look out for the "five ladies and drums" and the children's mandolin band.
Particular souvenirs to think about; Uzumlu wine, Mushrooms and of course the famous woven products from those looms.
Well worth a visit
