My son came home from our villa last week and on leaving noticed that workmen were installing concrete steps across the dalaman road for people to access the village on foot safely.Apparently they were in the process of doing several of these concrete steps at junctions where there are roads leadind down to the village.Im sure that perhaps some of the shop owners must of noticed a drop in trade and persauded the council do do some thing about it,good on them if this is correct.

Do you mean bridges over the road?

They can not be putting steps in - the cars on the outside lane would end up hitting them.  would be better to leave little gaps for pedestrians to walk through with shopping trolleys etc. Would be easy for cyclists too.  I doubt if they would be putting footbridges over - would that not be expensive.
We will be there next Wednesday and hope to hire some bikes for myself and younger daughter as she can not sit still for long, will go and take some photos to upload.  Ot at least update this topic.

Gaps would make more sense as we could then get across with our bikes. Steps seems odd unless they are on a bridge and even then they will be no good for bikes.

Actually there are steps up the steep incline to the main road from the recently created secondary road which runs parallel to the main road leading to the lanes on the sea side of the village. The steps are set into the incline so do not intrude onto either road.

Thanks Marjo, I understood it as steps over the road to make a bridge - not to assist us getting up the slopes!  One week and I will be there and can see for myself!!!

Thanks for the pitcures!  These steps must further up the road from where we cross over to Koca Calis.
