Highlander's excellent "A VISITOR'S GUIDE TO LOCAL HOTELS, RESTAURANTS, BARS AND SHOPS" has been created and you are cordially invited to own a copy (for a small donation to the 3C charity). It details the many bars, restaurants and other important places, and shows the order of restaurants on the prom - making it very easy for new visitors to find their way around.
The guide will, I think, be especially useful for people who rent their property, and for people who have family going out for the first time, and for people who are already out but pis$ed.
Please be clear that it is offered in the best of faith and is as accurate as knowledge allowed at the time of writing. Changes do happen. Especially in Calis. :)
You can obtain a copy by contacting Highlander via his profile (in Members, above) .

Quick comment: Horrid colour choice for the link Keith, those of us who suffer with colour blindness will hate it!
-
What link ????? ;)
-
It was chosen to evoke a feeling of sunniness and warmth upon all those who clicked upon it, may their spirits be uplifted by the yellow rays of the guiding words.
-
If yellow on blue is difficult to see God help you lot looking for your life jacket if Jerry's Boat ever sinks
-
Praise the Lord !!!
-
let's hope the booklet gets a better response than your horrid colour choice
-
Belt up you
-
Well done H, very handy guide for visitors 8)
-
Sorry Scunner but had you compiled this before Bostans moved?
-
I didn't compile it.
-
Perhaps you should have said something about the accuracy of the information when you posted it ;)

John and I are working on a version that will be updated as necessary. That one is £8 per month. Any takers? Thought not.
-
Thank you H for taking the time to put that together. Really helpful xxx
-
Great piece of work H. Well done and thank you. Most helpful
:D
-
Thank you H. It will be really useful for family and friends. Joxx
-
Well done H. Can you do Koca Calis next ;-)
-
What a great thing to do,well done.
-
I very much appreciate the "thank you/well done" posts but::
I floated the idea of a map in September last year under a thread entitled "Where are we going tonight darling"
If you looked at that thread you would see that I got 9 pages of help from lots of people so the final result is very much a combined effort.
Can I just reiterate what scunner said "If you, your friends, your family or guests at your property find it useful, a small donation to one of the local charities would be a nice way of saying so. The price of an Efes (or even a couple) donated by a decent number of people over the season would make a small contribution to the wonderful work that the charity people do.
(PS stoop if you tell my where the restuarant is, I'll see what I can do ;)
-
thanks for your efforts will find this very useful
-
My pleasure puma :)

-
No problem rainy22 - I hope that it proves useful and that your family have a lovely holiday:D.
-
John. Thanks for taking the time to put all this together, I know other people contributed information, but it takes a lot of time to put it all into a logical order. I'll be taking a copy out in April. :)
-
Nice one John,
Tnks :)
-
Thank You, this is great - will call into charity shop in June and make a donation when we drop some baby clothes off.
-
Thats fab H really helpful I'm sure. The Mutlu doesnt appear unless I've missed it!
-
Good grief - how could I have missed one of the major/most popular hotels in the town :o.
While scunner intimated earlier that we wouldn't keep changing the booklet, I do think that the Mutlu should be noted.
I intend to make the necessary alterations but it would mean people reprinting the whole thing I'm afraid:(. I do apologise for the inconvenience this will have caused.
Many thanks for pointing out the omission cavfan :)
-
(http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q214/highlander_010/Calis%20Maps/padded_cell.jpg)
The addition of the Mutlu (as well spotted by cavfan) to the text is obviously not a problem but adding it to the map is proving slightly more troublesome. Bear with me.
I may as well also delete Bostand from the front.
-
Thank you very much for the guide H
It will be very useful.
Thanks again.
Regards
Dave.
:)
-
The guide is brill....got people going out to our apartment for the first time in June so this will come in very handy,
-
Thank you - don't print off yet though - I'm hoping scunner received the updated version and that he will put on here when he has a moment.
-
Thanks for the guide, its great.
-

There's a return of a blast from the past. The Bambu has opened in what was Dennis the Menace's restaurant area last season. Looks like this guide of yours will be a life's work Highlander!

Have emailed you jennyjo.

Hello, I'd like to get a copy of the guide please but see I need to make a donation, could you tell me how to donate please? Thanks :)

Hi digdug
If you have paypal you can use that. If not then you need to email pi55y (Chrissie) who will give you details of the bank details.
Or if you were over soon you could drop the donation into the Charity shop.
If you email me when you have done that then I would be more than happy to email you the latest version of the Guide.
Many thanks for helping the kids:D

-
Just to assure everyone that, despite the problems with my laptop, I have not lost the Guide and it is available on request for a donation to the 3C's Charity.
PS If you think that this is a blatant attempt to revive this topic, you would be perfectly correct. :)

-
Yes it won't work - you are being asked to make a small charitable donation in order to get a guide now.
-
Scunner you do say on page 1 ,if you find it useful a gift to one of the charties ,what if you dont find it useful do you get a refund ,i think you know 99% of forum members would do this anyway . :)
-
If a member doesn't find it useful they can of course get a refund. I will also personally despatch someone to Saklikent to remove colouring pencils to the value of the donation from the little kids.
-
Hi
How do we go about making a donation to enable us to down load the guide. Also I was planning on bringing pencils ect where do I leave them.?
-
Thanks Lesley - donations can be made using the following info: http://calis-beach.co.uk/forum/cbf_charity_project_2012_bozalan_school/introducing_our_2012_project_bozalan_school_45967.msg267312.html#msg267312 and pencils and the like are always gratefully received.
-
Lesley - let me know your email address when you have made your kind donation and I will email you the latest version of the Guide.
Thanks so much for helping the kids ;D
-
Hi All,
I can't get the (beautifully coloured) download link to work.
Is the Guide still available? Or could it be emailed?
We're out in Calis in the middle of August and would love to have a browse through what others recommend and try a few different places. That said, we've never had a bad meal anywhere in Calis or Fethiye - some different levels of quality and service but nothing poor and never a bad meal.
-
i cannot get it it says address is't valid???
-
Yes it won't work - you are being asked to make a small charitable donation in order to get a guide now.
-
mgw123 and puma
If either of you would like to make a donation and to email me with your email addresses, I will send you a Guide. ;D
-
Grateful thanks to shameless2 the latest member to help the kids ;D ;D ;D.
-
My pleasure, I knew it would be useful having you has a friend ;) xxxx
-
I don’t quite know why I haven’t thought of this earlier and it would have been so much better if I had thought of it earlier in the season.
There are numerous occasions when people come on the Forum asking for contact details of various establishments.
So I thought it would be a good idea if we added contact details (telephone number, email address etc) to the Bar and Restaurant Guide. After all it’s all very well knowing where it is but if you cannot contact the place then you cannot book.
So if you have contact details of any of the bars, restaurants, hotels or shops on the Main Street or the prom and would be good enough to email them to me I will collate them and assess if it’s worth adding them to the Guide.
If I manage to stay sober for long enough on our next visit I will try and remember to collect some myself. ;)
-
Another idea I had (to give you even more to do) would be to perhaps include information on whether they offer free wifi.
-
Good thinking - noted. :)
-
Tried to open the link on page 1 and it says address invalid. Has it changed or is it safari?
-
Yes it won't work - you are being asked to make a small charitable donation in order to get a guide now.
-
Sorry - stopped all charity donations until next tax year ;)
Poor pensioner :(
I'll see what I can scrape together.
:)
-
I am hiring the wheelchair off the 3Cs for two weeks, does this count as a donation, ;) I will of course donate some pencils as well when the wheelchair gets dropped off next Tuesday. Thanks again to the 3Cs for sorting this, it will be a godsend with my dads wobbly legs. : :)
-
Thanks for the guide, now can we do them all in 2 weeks especially when we already want to return to last years faves. ;D
-
I would be very grateful for feedback from those who used the guide this season.
Constructive criticism can only improve the guide.
We had thought of adding contact numbers and scunner suggested that we added wi-fi if available. But I haven't managed to progress either of those.
-
Ho, when i click on the yellow link it only brings up a blank document ?
-
think it needs an update :)
-
I have just joined and thought it would be great to read all about the Bars and Restaurants,I have tried to download this document but nothing happens ,can anyone help please?
-
Hi TerasaH - welcome to the Forum.
When you become more familair with the Forum you will see that it is involved in charity work in Calis. May I suggest that you search "Bozalan" and you will see the fabulous work that the Forum and local people did at a rundown school.
It was for this reson that it was decided that the Guide would be made available to anyone in return for a small donation to the charity.
Please note that the Guide doesn't give reviews on the bars or restaurants, only there locations in relation to each others. You will be able to find lots of reviews on here.
If you are interested in that then please send me a message with an email address and we can take things forward from there.
Regards
highlander

??? cannot download the guide?? need info on sim cards and where is Annas bar in relation to hotel Dost??
-
Hi Pauline and welcome
We decided that the Guide would be made available "free of charge" ;) to members who were kind enough to make a small donation to the 3C's Charity ;D
-
Am struggling with the location of the Dost Hotel but if travel republic map is accurate (!) then I would estimate 200 - 300 metres.
-
Hiya H
Dost hotel is almost opposite Calis Genpa, next door to Anna Garden bar and apartments.
-
Anna aparts garden bar is on Calis to Migros main road, its not the same place as Anna Bar on the main seafront
-
I should have know better than to rely on a travel republic map :(

Thanks for the correction kayakebab

Hi Scunner,
Having problems downloading your guide! When I click on your link, it just goes to a blank page. Am I doing something wrong, I am trying to do this on my Ipad! Or is it Apple again being choosy because it's not one of their ideas.

Hi laytos115
It was decided (before you joined perhaps) that the Guide would be made available in return for a donation to the 3C's Charity.
If you send me a PM on here with an email address I can use, I will send you a copy and explain how you may make a donation.
-
It's Apple's fault. John, send her an iGuide ;)
