An application has been submitted to build both a concrete and Asphalt plant not far from Üzümlü. This is in addition to an existing quarry. This area is stunningly beautiful. Olives groves, grapes vines, bee hives abound in this area. A previous environmental impact report stopped a smaller application back in 2007.
There could be a likely effect on Tourism in this area of 5 villages of Kurokoy, incikoy, Üzümlü, kizabel and Nif is the application is accepted. Kurokoy is the site of the planned industrialisation
These villages are situated only 20 mins from Fethiye.
A public consultation has been organised for this Friday May 3rd at 1.30 pm in Kurokay. A Turkish led " picnic " has been organised . They have advised that the presence of bodies of any nationality would be most welcome . The hope is a show of concern will stop this plan before it gets off the ground.
Mini buses will be leaving from Üzümlü on the day. If you can come, please advise.

Information on social media site announced the applications had been rejected
Due to laws protecting olive trees.The newly formed Environmental protection group intend to have the area protected from similar applications in the future.
