This gives peace of mind if you have paid 10 years NI. looks fair to me.

Thanks for sharing. This will be welcomed by ex pats and people like us who split our time between the UK and Turkey and who have paid NI contributions all our working lives.
-
Great news for us oldies who have worked all our lives and paid our dues. N H S care and W F P. ;D ;D
-
Sounds like some common sense coming into play - it would also be good to acknowledge "a lifetime's contribution" - say 30 years plus - as giving you equal entitlement for everything - inc heating allowance etc. >:D

Another write up

How will this affect SGK, as you are not supposed to have access to any other heath service??
-
So does this mean that although I have lived over here for 6 years I am entitled to free NHS care as I paid NI for 41 years?I sort of read the link as it saying I had to pay in another 10 years before I qualified or an I just being dense?????

What makes you think that? The way I understand it is if you have paid in for 10 years you are entitled to free NHS care
-
But you have to be fıt to travel to get the free NHS care and waıt for the treatment. You cant travel ıf you have had a heart attack. Here ıt ıs easy to see a doctor and gettıng treatment needed ıs ımmedıate. I wıll carry on wıth Turkısh SGK ıt works for me but thanks Mr Cameron for your kınd offer.

if you have a heart attack, i dont think you will worry who treats you?

Fine for people who live in Turkey all year. However, this new ruling is very important for people who still have a home in the UK and live in it for part of the year......they will now be entitled to free NHS care without having to wait six months.
-
One of the criteria for allowing us to join the SGK system was that you had no access to a health service, will this ruling end up with us being kicked out of the SGK system???

The UK government is now seeking your views on proposed changes to NHS health care arrangements for migrants and expats.
