12 passangers in a jeep - when will both the safari companies and the tourists ever learn.

Strange a car swerved into their path, that's normally the jeep driver's job. Perhaps he already did...

It must have been one of the big jeeps that take 12-15 people but definitely another tragedy.  I hope they were all insured  >:( >:( >:(

The Trafik Polis were pulling all the jeeps over on the main Antalya Road before the Kemer turn off last week and checking them. About time too!

Earlier we had seen a jeep with just two passengers. They were standing on the seats and leaning against the roof bar at the back. All it needed was for the jeep to brake suddenly or hit a pot hole and they would have been thrown out.

These same people would probably not dream of going anywhere in a car in the UK without putting on their seatbelts. Yet they are prepared to leave their brains splattered over a road in Turkey!

Jeep Safari Lesson:

1. Book a Jeep that has indivdual seats, (so the jeep can't be overloaded!),
2. Seat belts (there are companies out there that have them! You may pay a little bit more... BUT worth it!!)
3. Don't book the cheapest!!!

Lesson finished! x

You should see the state of them - they hurtle past my place every day at around 0930  - 0945 and the drivers are already driving like idiots and the passengers are no better shouting and screaming spraying those water guns all over.

Also get insurance before you leave as your normal Travel Insurance will not cover a Jeep Sarfari which is classed as a Hazardous Sport.  The Jeep Company may insure you, but this only covers treatment in Turkey.
So miss a flight home because you are in hospital and it will be really expensive to get your own.
I have to say I am really surprised that anyone would think of taking children on one of these trips, seems like utter madness to me.
