Plate clearing problem
« on: September 16, 2015, 22:58:31 PM »
As a slow eater, compared to the company I keep, it is a real pet peeve of mine that in almost every restaurant I visit here, the staff swoop upon an empty plate regardless of whether the remaining diners at the table are still eating or not. One exception to this apparent rule is the Meeting Point in Calis. I have been so impressed with the standard of service/respect in this establishment that I recently commented on this matter to Ahmet. He was incredibly flattered by my compliment and assured me that they make sure that they never clear a table where people are still eating. Excellent manners. I have yet to find another restaurant that can compare in this regard. Well done Meeting Point. The small stuff counts too   :)

It's not something I've particularly noticed and I'm not sure it would annoy me (might though, most things do   ;) )

My main hate (and it isn't just a Turkey thing, it's evident more and more everywhere) is the appalling habit so-called waiters have of believing it is quite acceptable to reach across one diner's plate to serve or remove another. Surely professional waiting involves finding every possible way to avoid that?

I am weary of having a sweaty arm across my plate (and sometimes an armpit in my face.

Now that is surely far worse than yours, lagoon lover?   ;)

Strangely enough my experiences are the opposite to lagoon lover's.

It amazes me the amount of times that when people have a starter, the empty plates are left on the tables and only cleared when the server arrives with the main course. :-\

The one that drives me nuts is when a hot meal is served & the waiter then takes an age to bring cutlery  >:(

It's very bad manners to clear a plate when someone is still eating. I can't stand when they do this either

I also object to smelly body parts in one's face, but as I have said in other post's. I would rather be in Calis with an armpit in face, than here (UK) working my but off.   ;D ;D ;D

You either get a smelly waiter or one that has doused himself in aftershave

Just what I was thinking Stoop.. People expect a lot for their cheap meals in Turkey. There isnt anywhere in Calis that is the Ritz... chill people.. these are people working for bare minimum wages and are just doing their best on the whole... .
