Anyone interested in getting a body MOT the new ESNAF is offering their wellman/woman health checks for only 150TL this is a special offer that they have continued since January.
Just had mine done today and can highly recommend the staff, service and all the equipment they are using is brand new.The tests include 3 consultations with Internist, Cardiologist & Gynae/Urologist
tests include Bloods/ Cholestrol ECG/Treadmill Lung X Ray Ultrasound x 2 kidneys/ heart etc (Females Breast utrasound Smear test) there are 13 other tests as well like urine, Thyroid etc included. Their no if interested is 0252 612 6400 ext 65, 178 or 177. I am not sure how long their offer goes on for.

Sounds great value - did they give you a report back at the end is English or did the staff speak English to feed back to you?

That is a great bargain do they have an email address? we are not out until April I would like to have it, you would not get all that done in UK for just over £50 :)Also what about the lung xray do they tell you the results there and then, having smoked for many years (am trying hard to quit and have cut down)I would be a little afraid of the results but would still have it done :-\

At the consultations they discuss the test results with you and cover anything you want to discuss specific as well to their area of expertise. You also get the x ray ECG and blood results to take with you and 2 cover letters in Turkish signed off with all the results. The ECG/ Treadmill results are in English. The Blood test results are turkish but layout and wording very simular to English so understandable and any highlights will be circled and discussed. You also get scan pictures of Heart valves. You are accompanied to the consultations and tests with a interpreter so communication is not an issue and some of the doctors speak English as well. If you search on the web they have a site with contact details for e mail and service.

Yes lung x ray given about 2 hours when everything else is ready also they did an thyroid blood test first time i had that done. ;)

That is really good value for money, the equivalent of that in UK with BUPA would be £400 + (last time I looked ). :)[^]

Booked in for me and Gill - Feb 29th - 8.30am
Apparently we have to consume no red meat or alcohol for 48 hrs before and nothing to eat from midnight.
We then arrive and provide 3 samples - blood, urine and the unmentionable - (I am not sure that I can do all those at the same time) and then we return at 2.00pm to start our tests.
Still sounds a good deal - we will see - if they tell me I have the body of a 30 yr old I will consider it good value :)

Ian would you or Gill ask how long it is running for if you would not mind please I will be emailing them but in case I do not get a reply. It is such a bargain I paid around £400 last year in uk for a consulation and just one scan amazing you can have all that done for £55!Thanking you in advance :)it would be so worth having peace of mind after. :)Two days ago a friend of mine had a big heart attack and emergency surgery to have a stent put in she has been told she is lucky to still be here but had no clue she had a blocked artery and no problems prior to this.:(

Margaret and a doctor from the Esnaf came to talk to FiG and our supporters at our coffee meeting this week. Margaret did say these tests are due to go up in price soon as they have been at that price for a few years now
, I am sorry I cant remember the date they are due to rise or the amount that they will rise to though :-\

I am certain I paid 3 or 400 for the MOT in 2008, so, I'd like to know when it went down to that price!!

But the leaflets they handed out had 3 different tiers of checks
Over 30 Over 40 and over 50 years of age
The prices went up accordingly as more tests were done the older you are. I wish I had picked one up now so I could give more information on the prices and tests carried out
But I am sure this topic will carry on and someone will have the answers

Your right it is usually 350TL or 400TL this is a special New Year offer for the test that they extended into February for 150TL. They do offer more detailed medicals which also are currently on specials, I think the next level is 175TL, but the one I had is called the Economic one, as you can see from my list it covers all the main issue tests and unless you have a specific issue will certainly be all that is required for a full medical check. This is also not aged linked as I was told the price and details without my age being given. :)

I phoned this morning and made appointments for myself and husband, I was told that it would be 150tl each.

I had one done in 2009 and I paid 400 lira as well.It was a very thorough check up and well worth 400 lira, so anyone thinking about it, get it done while this special offer is available.

I had the 150TL check up on Friday. It isn't quite as comprehensive as the 400TL one I had 4 years ago (hearing test and Mammography not included, can't remember what else might be missing), but it did involve treadmill test. You can have other tests and if you have Bagkur, you will not pay full price for those extra tests. Not sure how long the 150TL deal price will last, but well worth it, I think.

Mick and I went yesterday for the 150 lira check up (we must have been one of the last to get one). We are so glad we went because it flagged up that Mick might have a possible blocked artery and needs an angiogram. I cannot fault the service we received and the English speaking person assigned to us was amazing, spoke fluent English, explained every test and results and smiled the whole day. Boy was it a long day starting at 8.30am and we finally got home at 6pm (couple of hours break for lunch. I know at 400 lira its a lot more expensive but for approx £170 its still excellant value for a full health check.

We had ours yesterday and can confirm comments made by other posters.
I couldn't get a "direct" answer to "when does this offer finish?" as I think the girl was trying to say "now" but if you have booked it will be ok.
When we came to pay our 2 x 150 lira - the desk pointed out that the computer said 600 lira (so I suspect that is what we got in real value terms) but our guide used a pass code to over ride the system.
We have been encouraged to go back in 3 and 6 weeks respectively because Gill had a small problem with her liver function and I had too much fat in my blood !!
The cost will be circa 50 & 70 lira so we will likely go but I suspect there are not totally necessary appointments. ;)
Overall very pleased and sorry Karennina but I suspect it is over for the time being but still worth a call to Margaret at a cheap rate.

Glad you all have been having your m.ot's, Busybee worth getting your hubby's possible blocked artery checked out and if it turns out to be blocked he can get it treated.
Thank you Ian I really appreciate you trying to find out for me when it ends, may make some enquires for our trip in April, that is good that your's and Gill's probs that were picked up are minor. :)

According to the Esnaf today as long as you book your health check before the end of March,the price will be 150 TL.

I can confirm it is 150TL
They do a "full" health check which costs 400+TL although the special offer at 150TL seems fairly comprehensive.

Gosh I am in such a dilemma as to whether to book up for this or not, people I have spoken to say do you really want to know the answer to all those tests you will have done,the answer to that is hell yes :) if they find something and it is treatable then why not!the cbf members that have been so far and have had things picked up can get treatment as it has all been picked up in time.It is such a fantastic price for all those tests to be carried out :)

Beleive me its well worth it. Mick is now having regular check ups regarding his heart, BP and correct medication. If we hadnt have gone who knows what may have happened. Maybe nothing or maybe......but at least we are aware.
Life is precious and if its fixable well surely thats got to be worthwhile.

Rıng Esnaf press 9 for englısh and ask for tourıst desk the translators speak englısh and they come round wıth you.

Like quackers said. Spoke on phone first. Went in and made further enquiries for my tailor made package of tests. She wrote them down and said call when you are ready to book. I called booked Thursday, no eating or drinking after midnight Wednesday Be there for 8.15 am.

Well that was an experience and a half..
Lots of hanging around..take a book, a friend or both..
The English speaking person, will only come in room and translate, not hang around with you..sometimes waiting an hour.
Beware men walk in the room, as and when they feel like it, I mean fellow patients, not doctors. Once when I was in the loo, providing the necessary, once when I was lying on a table having a breast and abdomen ultrasound and once while I was stood in my knickers going on the treadmill. Which reminds me, take a tshirt n shorts..I wore a dress thinking it would make things easier. The treadmill lady did want me to stand in a pair of knickers in front of a tinted window one of which was open, assuring me no one can see in..even I realise the world is not ready for that video..we compromised by her closing the window, drawing the blinds and her making me a make shift bra from some bandages..and still a man walked in..
Anyway I was examined from head to toe, the doctors are excellent. I came away with enough medication to start my own chemist and have an underactive thyroid,a fatty liver,type2 diabetes and severely infected sinuses that need surgery. I am to go back in a month and see various consultants again and hopefully the medication will have started working.i have been given a 1400 calorie a day diet. Best part is I dont take sugar or salt, I rarely drink alcohol..tut.
Costs were 900 lira for checkup
100 lira for meds
And I have to pay 230 lira when I return for more blood tests.
Still far cheaper than the uk would charge as a private patient. All in all, besides the hanging around, an excellent service and results handed to you in a folder at the end.

I loved your post Slikmrs! It's great you had such a comprehensive and thorough check up, it sounds very efficient and great price too. The funny side of it reminded us of our experience last year at the Devlet. It was only for a minor thing, ear syringe for us both.
To start with the waiting room was pure chaos, it was like a crowded cinema on a Saturday night. Whole families came together. Queuing was just non existent, if someone came out of a consulting room, they all (whole family) barged in regardless despite there being a large, clear patient list hanging on the door.
We sat waiting for so long we decided that as it was unimportant, we'd just give up and go home. Suddenly, like magic, we were ushered to the front of the queue. Once in the tiny side room, people just kept wandering in and out.
While M was being treated, both of us squeezed in this cupboard sized room, an old woman came in, lay down on the examination table and started to lift up her clothes. A medic followed, flicked the curtain half over them and proceeded to examine her! We also had half a dozen trainees watching us, all crowded in the doorway, giggling and excited because they wanted to see how much came out of M's ears!! Eugh! Lol!
It was a fascinating and eye opening experience, I imagine we both looked like stunned rabbits in the headlights as walked out! ;)

Blood test for hormone levels and CA125 ovarian cancer marker, bone scan, mammogram, breast ultrasound, smear test and pelvic ultrasound. Takes around 3 hours.
You get your hormone level result the same day and the CA 125 and smear result about a week later.

Could you give me some contact details please? We've decided to get the old bodies checked over before going home. I'm not sure exactly where the Latoon is, I've seen signs near the Saturday market. Any help will be most welcome.

You go past Saturday market turn off, keep going towards Karacula and on right hand side you will see it signposted to your right.
I think most of the checks are done on Tuesday's, not sure if other days.
And don't know any details for well man checks Im afraid.

Just spoke to Claudia, one of the translators, she said well man checks are 155tl as well. Checks are normally Tuesday's but can be other days if they're not busy.

Esnaf were also good offering a very similar service, there were various levels of tests and costs, we opted for the VIP tests at I think 400 tl could have been 500...brilliant price long old day but well worth it...
We had all well woman checks, loads of bloods and other samples,chest X-ray, ultrasound on abdomen which also scans the liver, treadmill test and heart scan,hearing and eye test,basically we went round the whole hospital and stopped off at every department, also included a translator who accompanied us, oh also ear nose and throat....
At the exchange rate at the moment makes it even more of a great price :)

Went to the Latoon for the wellpersons check up. We arrived at 11 am and left at 3 pm.
The basic check for 155 lira is a very good bargain. We both had an extra check that pushed the price up but we are well satisfied.
We both passed with flying colours, They were surprised how well we both performed considering our age. I don't think they get many over eighty going for the check up. I can recommend the Latoon but we did find it a very exhausting day.

Lotty sorry missed your post yesterday.
No secret really. :) Sensible eating, no smoking and very little alcohol, plenty of exercise. Wetry and walk at least an hour every day.
Went back to the Latoon today to get the results of the additional test I wanted done. Blood pressure up slightly but no big deal. :)
All in all a couple of good days with money well spent.

If I can be a little controversial there is a growing body of research that suggests that mammograms aren't that accurate and results can lead to unnecessary surgery and treatment. The usefulness of a mammogram depends on your age and can be damaging in itself.
Also the CA125 ovarian cancer marker isn't necessarily a indicator of ovarian cancer. There are many other reasons why levels can be high.
There is a lot of information out there and I would recommend that people do their own research.

Just take your body and they do the rest. Take details of any medication that you are on.
We started at 11 am and finished about 2pm with a break for lunch.
The extra I had was a BP monitor on for 24 hours as I was a bit concerned about high blood pressure. I got the monitor put on at 2pm and went back next afternoon to get the results .
The total cost wa TL417 I considered it a very good price..
