Title: Gent's Barber
Post by: Jacqui Harvey on September 25, 2015, 16:22:41 PM
Just a plug for the Barber next to Zayra.  Phil always goes there now.  We went today and I had a drink in Zayra while Phil had a shave and a haircut.  He got the works as usually, ears, nose eyebrows, beard trim and a great haircut. He was in there for quite a long time.   All for 20Tl around £4.00's odd..   Really nice man too.

John went today too.
There's a price list so unlike many there's no double pricing structure.

What is it with British men going to Turkey, suddenly they lose the ability to shave themselves, very strange  ;) :o ;D

I am sticking with my BIC sensitive  ;D ;D ;D

Phil usually gets a haircut as we are here for over a month.  However, I think for £4.00 for a shave and haircut it is a bit of luxury and pampering for a man to get a shave and apparently they shave you twice.
I saw  a tourists comng out of a barber in Hisaronu and saying to the Barber, see you same time tomorrow, so, I assume he was going daily..

spo6666 it's a whole new experience! Another Turkish Delight. Once you've tried it I bet it becomes one of your traditional treats on holiday! Go on give it a go!   ;)

I did try it and actually did not like it, had my cut once & only once as the guy made a complete b***s up of it.
I will remain a stick in the mud & shave myself  ;D ;D ;D

Once,  I had a bad haircut,  I never went back, but it did not put me off hairdressers for life
come on spo6666... you only live once and there is a big world out there to try.

I cannot be persuaded. The £4ish I will save by not having said shave & blow dry, can go to my favourite charity. kırmızı şarap, where it will be gratefully received, no doubt  8) 8) 8)

I know someone who went to a Turkish barber for a haircut, while he was having it cut.
the barber waxed is ears, which he didn't expect, as they usualy singe them,
he said it brought tears to his eyes,

When I go I get a lovely double shave and I've had them wax my eyebrows a bit without asking,  but they never seem to use the candle on my ears. Am I missing a trick or just not deemed hairy enough? 10 lira for the shave is nothing and it's one of the few times I get fully clean shaven.

Well Phil thoroughy enjoyed his haircut, shave, ears nose, eyebrow trim, he was in there for ages and had a real pampering for £4.00.  I hear this Barber taught other Barbers the art, so he must be good.  As for the £4.00 to (wine) Charity.  We can manage some help to the 3C's (our favourite real Turkish charity) when we are over and find £4.00 extra for Phil's barber..

We dropped off quite a few very good condition items at 3Cs in July, so hopefully those helped to swell the coffers of 3Cs.

Checked my hands last night and they are still capable of giving myself a good shave and don't fancy a candle on the ear (or anywhere else) for that matter : :)  ;) :P :o

I don't actually remember moaning. I am giving a personal take on barber shop shaving, waxing various parts of the body etc, it's not for me   :)

If not conforming to the general opinion, is moaning then so be it  >:(

Whatever happened to personal choice   ;)  ;)  ;)

That's because it's already double, I pay 5tl for haircut and if I had a shave (which I don't) that would be 5tl as well and free hair wash if you want it. Even a glass of wine or 2 thrown in when he has some.
Same as the locals pay. Ears nose eyebrows all done as well.
Seems your being turned over without noticing, shop around, go where the locals go.

Ah now if I told you that, I would have to wait in a queue.
Also people would be saying "how much, that's cheap" and probably give him twice as much anyway and there sees the end of my "reasonable" not cheap haircut.

My barber in Kargi charges the same  ;)
But I've been to lazy to cycle the 8 miles there and back in the summer heat so have been using the one by the market  :)
