Rang Digiturk Istanbul. They said new contract may be megotiated with Hallmark but may not be negotiated - sounds about right for Digiturk. However, they did say many people have rung and complained maybe that will help!!!!

Hi all
I have just spoken with digi turk about the loss of hallmark and i have asked for another channel in replacement of hallmark!! the response at first was cant be bothered attitude I then went into my Turkish fluent mode and told them that I was calling from Fethiye and that digi Turk had many British customers and that we were all fed up with it and that if nothing was done then most of us would consider ending are business with digi turk all together! this did get a response :) hallmark may or may not be coming back they cannot guarentee it if they cannot give us hallmark channel then a replacement will be found but basically it could be anything!! as I spoke with the woman on the phone she said there was not a mangaer available until tomorrow morning!!! I will ring agian tomorrow but to be honest with you the more people who phone the better!!!!!! and I will keep you all posted.

A few years back Hallmark fell out with digiturk and it went off air to be replaced by another channel (the name of which escapes me at present), Hallmark did eventually return, only for the whole cycle to start up again.
It will keep happening, on air, off air, on air, off air, etc, etc

Hi everyone

As I promised I have just spoken with digi turk about the loss of the hallmark channel I got the usual bla bla bla stuff from the woman on the telephone the thing that annoys me the most is that digi turk has a new logo on the phone "welcome to happy families with digi turk" :o
and yes you guessed it still no manager available for a chat with an frustrated bilingual foreign woman hahahahahaha!!!!!!:D i tried it on 9 for english and the regular turkish options :o:D
so this is what I do have
destek@digiturk.com.tr so everyone basically needs to mail them and then we made get a free replacement channel:D

Good luck all :)

I see wedding TV has also disappeared from our digiturk, I think it was channel 58, I personally didn't watch it but that isnt the point, they just disappear and you arn't supposed to notice.  We used to get quite good films on Movie Max because we stopped buying DVD's because they came on the telly but just lately the films are rubbish, all comedy American crap, and also lots of French and Italian films too, we buy the Digiturk magazine every month and all the new films that are out go onto Salon (Turkish film channel) it is absolute tosh and not even worth turning the TV on anymore, Hallmark was the only decent channel we had.  That is my rant over with, and yes I have sent an e:mail to digiturk complaining.

But I pointed out I am not happy with the service generally and am looking into an alternative...[:(!]

Isnt it wonderful what we can do in a polite way if we all get together. No smart remarks,no sarcasm just joint effort! I must admit I did lay it on a bit thick with a threat of cancelation if any replacement channel was not of similar film value. In the meantime you might like to view my post ref Toolbartv.com.good viewing.jon

Just had telephone call from Digiturk Istanbul to say they have received my email plus many others about the HALLMARK channel and they are going to forward them all to the television programmers - she said this happened once before and Hallmark was put back on! She also suggested that as many people as possible email or ring in and complain.  Get emailing!!!

Without wishing to sound fecicious or sarcastic,I can't for the life of me understand why everyone is getting cranked up over the loss of Hallmark.I thought it was a given that Dogiturk was total rubbish, over the years I've been here I've lost count of the number of people I've heard complaining about it.
I've also lost count of all the satellite packages that are supposed to deliver the goods, but at the end of the day fall flat on their faces.
Without wishing to sound supercillious the bottom line is bring a box out from the UK,get the right sized dish to run it,and live happy ever after. :).

I don't think it's so much as being cranked up about losing hallmark, more a case of it's at least the second english channel lost in a year, with no replacment.
I also moan about Digiturk, especially the basic package, but the choice of english channels are now less and the cost goes up.

well to be honest we think SKY is a load of rubbish and get bored stiff with it when we go home. Most of it is repeats or silly game shows and the discovery channels are about 10 years out of date! Cant say that Digiturk is much better but at least we dont have to watch the CELEBRITY type shows! Sky sports is ace though and really miss those and the normal type channels ie BBC/ITV. Everyone to their own taste though so live and let live

So Evie, they should just accept an inferior service for more money ?

A tip for anyone keeping Digiturk for a year, phone them up and agree to keep the package for a year for a discount, we save about 8 lira a month on the cinema pack.

So Evie,Sky is a load of rubbish,Dogiturk is not much better,so what alternatives are there? The majority of Brits living out here logically wish to view English languaged programmes, apparently dogiturk do'nt have many of these, why should they,it is a Turkish station.
People must realise that when they subscribe to the service, they must know what they're going to get,so why complain about it.
By the way you DO'NT have to watch the CELEBRITY type shows,no one's holding a gun to your head to do so,just change channels.
You say you really miss the normal type channels ie BBC/ITV,I did say in my first post how you can recieve these in Turkey.
If you live on a complex with other Brits why not club together to buy the dish, you can run up to 12 feeds if you buy the LNB to do so. :)

No thats why I want Hallmark back -we happen to like it. The service in UK was much more expensive for crap programs when we lived there but maybe it has gone down in price now - just saying its a choice.

Emailed them yesterday and they rang today to say they dont know if or when Hallmark will return but they are looking at some different alternatives.Geordieboy you say we must have known what we were getting when we subcribed to it in the first place ,we did but it wasn,t what we are getting now Hallmark isn,t the only channel to go so we are not getting what we subcribed to originally thats why we are complaining.:(
Title: Digiturk
Post by: geordieboy on May 08, 2009, 05:19:47 AM
If you're not getting the service you paid for why not ring them up and tell them you'll cancel it.I watched Hallmark yesterday for about 10 mins, reviewed what offered for the next 12 hrs,and in my humble opinion it was nothing but garbage, however one mans meat is another one's poison.
So,what's everyone going to do about it?,are you going to keep on paying for a service you're not getting? bombard them with emails and telephone calls, get a petition up,have a mass demonstration outside thier head office,or keep moaning about it on here?.
I'll have another peek at Hallmark today just to make sure I did'nt miss something yesterday.

So you ring up if you're unhappy about it,they give you the runaround, and after that it's no problem. So its all been sorted. :).

Not really, we're quite free to take our business elsewhere.  Then they will feel the effect.  And if they don't, I don't care as long as I get tv without SO many repeats.  I can almost act out the blasted programs myself.   If there was more choice on digiturk I would be OK, but there's less and less available each month it seems.  And what's the deal with showing American and English films, but they are dubbed into Turkish and the original soundtrack isn't available, -crazy.  If they cant be bothered to provide us with a decent service, fine, I can't be bothered to pay them.

On my first visit of the season(april/may)I call at Digiturk, set up a standing order and collect the box and remote.Pay approx' 16/18YTL per month for basic package, then on last day of last visit (october)take the box and remote back and cancel order.I fogot the scart lead on my first return,so now I just hang on to it.
