Oh ok thank you for the reply , I would like to go for the lower figure but not my landlord is going to be that easy.
We have our own unofficial electric meter to show what we are actually using and this month our first month here our bill can to 45 tl and total for two apartments his and ours came to 249 tl.
We have been here just over 3 weeks not a full month yet and he is asking me to half the tax on the entire bill 80 tl and wants me to pay 40.

I've told him i don't paying tax on what we've used but that i'm not paying it for the entire bill, he has now gone off to think about it.

If i was to pay what he wants I would be basically doubling our electric bill That can't be right can it ?

Not that want to fall with him over this ,and seeing as we've only been here 4 weeks on friday but i would love to give him a new calculator and tell him where to shove it.
HA HA
It's the only time i go off Turkey just a tiny little bit and thats the turks and how they deal with money.

Thanks to everyone for your help on this and I wish everyone a Very Happy Christmas and all the best for a trouble free and peaceful New Year.

Alan.

Sorry, but on your given figures, the numbers don't stack, if your landlord is saying that 80tl is the value of KDV:

If the 249tl is the net amount of electricity ie ex KDV, the KDV equates to 32.1%

If the 249tl is inc KDV, towards 50%.

Either way, he's definitely extracting the urine  :o

It's maybe not a case of falling out, but more showing that you aren't an easy mark.  If you give an inch, he'll take a mile - its electricity this time, but next it'll be the water, then something else and so on.

Exactly the way i see it, he has gone really quiet on the subject now until the next electricity bill comes in I guess , but i'll be very surprised if that is the last I hear of it.
As you Said JohnF this is taking the P and there is this still the water bill.
