Police are to pay £44,500 of taxpayers' money on a phone bill racked up by a burglar.
The thief was given a phone by North Wales Police while he was on bail, so they could keep tabs on him.
But after he was jailed, he handed the device to two of his friends, who ran up the astonishing bill in just six months.

Saw that on the news this morning, absolutely ridiculous. >:( :o

This bill and the cost of providing these phones should be paid from the Pension Funds and Personal savings of
whoever thought it was a good idea to provide criminals with a mobile phone service.
You can bet your life the victims don't get free phones.

I thought April fools was a few days ago. Mobiles while your on bail indeed..tut. Back in the day, if you were lucky enough to get bail, then you signed on at the police station 1-3 times a day or once a week. And if you didnt sign you went to jail, simple as.
