As promised here is an update on my daughter who was diagnosed with Chronic Myloid Leukaemia end of feb. Well today we had great news. Her white cell count, which should be under 10 is now down to 50. It was 189 or 198. So we are over the moon. Goes to show the tablets are working. It is still very early days, and 50 is still very high.She has put on 9lb and her spleen has shrunk from 30cms to 15, She gets her big results from Bone Marrow next week. She is so exhausted a side effect of meds but she managed to get up and dressed.. today is a positive day. Still a long way to go but she is fighting all the way.
I want to say a Great BIG Thank you to all who have offered to help, both on the forum and in private messages. You are all fantastic and your good wishes mean the world to us.

Sadly it's incurable,but manageable as long as she remains stable. Early days,but we are happy with the progress she is making. Praying for a good bone marrow result.

My ex father-in-law has it for 15+years and is doing great. Good wishes to your daughter I'm sure with the right medication she will also have it under control. As Jacqui said modern medicine is so good.

What did he have Rana? Which one? Great that he has survived 15 years, that is really uplifting to hear,..which country is he in?
Daughter went for her 'Big' appointment today. Bloods down to 25 and spleen is only 2cm more than the normal size. There is something amiss with her test, something that the Consultant has never seen before. The philadelphia gene when it is broken down should show something and my daughters shows in her bone marrow, but not in her blood. People usually show it in their blood and not their bone marrow. So tests are being sent somewhere else to be retested at some place. A little bit disconcerting that he has never seen it ??? :-\, but All in all a good day. ;D

He has Chronic Myloid Leukaemia Bernie. He agreed to trial a new drug and never looked back. Don't know the name of it but probably used now. As i said at least 15 yrs now. He is in Liverpool England.

She is on imamitib it seems to be doing the job. That's really great that he is 15 years into it, thank you for sharing that info. Nice to hear something positive xxx

With a heavy heart my beautiful baby Adele passed away last night in Devon. The intensive care unit at Torquay hospital fought valiantly to save her,throwing every drug into her and giving her dialysis. Her body couldn't fight anymore, multi organ failure. It wasn't the leukaemia that killed her though, they had no answers despite testing her for about 50 different diseases all testing negative. How come in this day and age there are unknown bugs that can wreak havoc..no it wasn't corona virus either,or the other things they tested for. It was just her time.She was 40 on December 12th, feel so bad for her children. A very special light has gone out in the world and I am lost.

Thank you all for your messages and kind words. They really are appreciated.
Madness that my baby can't even have a proper funeral and wake. She's only allowed 10 people because of the corona virus. Because of the distance and supposed to stop in doors, I'm not going. So my other daughters and her kids are driving down. Granddaughter will bring her home to Birmingham and we will have a memorial and wake here, then she will go back to Devon for her last wake Whenever that might be and how many of us survive. .
