It certainly did GB.  
We walked for hours all around Kayaköy one day last summer.  Wish we'd stumbled upon his spaceship:D
The best memories I have of that day though are of a gigantic cow lying under the trees in the garden, a great huge beast easily twice as big as any I'd ever seen and a little boy of about 3 of 4 playing with his bike in the fields with his jumper and his wellies on :o
A high number of eccentric people?  bring them on:D
