Yes most banks will cover you for 50,000TL per person per bank i.e. 100,000 for a joint account. If you need to go above these levels open another account in a different bank. :)

Can anyone tell me if I can transfer GBP from my UK bank to my TL account in Finans bank via the internet.  Can't figure out how to do this from looking on the web site.

I am with Nationwide and can't do it without going in a branch and filling out a form, I don,t know about other banks.

We just opened bank accounts with Finans - a GBP one and a TL one.  We did not open a high interest account yet as we are just starting to set these things up.  Have been told that the TL one will cost us 10.5 tl each quarter.  Given the interest we'll get on what we deposited it will cost us.  Any recommendations on this.
ps we do intend to open a high interest account next month - is there a fee charged on these accounts ??
