Looking for a recommendation to set up a Bank Account in Fethiye.
We set up one with Isbank last year, but find any transactions can be a bit of a nightmare as we dont speak Turkish. So to be honest its set up but dont really use or feel comfortable adding further funds.
So I'm thinking...lets set up another one next time I'm over. This time I'd like to use it more actively,ie. pay bills, transfer money from UK etc.
So ideally..one thats reasonably central in Fethiye, pays reasonable interest rates and can generally understand and advise me in English.Anything else will be a bonus.Thanks.

Alot of people use Finas bank due to Ayse. But alot of the banks have English speakers now. Try Melek or Ozge at the ING bank opposite the fish market in Fethiye, their desks are upstairs.

I would reccomend Finans Bank, most of the staff in the upstairs office speak good English as well as Ayshe the Manager who will be more than happy to give you a hand setting up with good honest advice.

I would reccomend Alper at Fortis bank I use Fortis  and Finnans both good banks but Alpers English is better than mine, Finnans have monthly charges Fortis do not. Fortis answer emails straight away I have emailed Finnans a few times and got no reply. The interst rate on monthly accounts is better at Fortis.
I should be on commision from Alper.

Go with Fortis,Mark is spot on with his recomendation.Alper is a superb account manager in the english style. He is always available on mobi or email. No queues no-one leaning over your shoulder.Best of all always best rates.Have used both Finnans, garanti and Teb.No one to touch fortis.Currently owned by Belgium government but soon to be owned by bnp paribas which is currently eighth in the league of top banks in europe.good luck

Just to put you right John, the upstairs in Finans has recently been refurbed and no one is looking over your shoulder also I got 13.75% from there this morning, better than Fortis, I can also phone Ayshe anytime for any information and I don't remember queuing any longer than a few minutes and it hasn't just been taken over!
