Our friend lost her husband to cancer in december, having run up a bill of £40,000 (air ambulance & hospital bill), she now has to sell up and move back to the uk. After scouring through the internet for haulage companys and emailing several, some coming back with silly prices, we managed to find a english company Excess Baggage.com who offered door to door service. The price for this was £919 for 8 boxes (tea chest). All the necessary forms where sent to her, which we helped her fill in and fax back, payment was taken in full, collection was arranged for Monday 2nd November, Great! She was flying home on the 3rd.
She phoned me in panic on the evening of the 29th November (friday) to say she had received and email (not a phone call) from this company to say 'we are sorry but we no longer collect from your area, we can refund you your money in full or if you can get it to our depot in Antalya we can still despatch it for you'. Our friend doesn't drive and we have a scooter, no help to her. When we finally got hold of them, and asked what they recommend we do and at this short notice, they answered with 'there is nothing we can recommend'. Not alot of help when you are flying home in 2 days. Anyway the goods news is we managed to get it delivered (off our own backs) to Antalya at a cost of a further £100. SO PLEASE be warned. DO NOT book through this company, as they are still advertising door to door service from Ovacik. Apparently this has also happened to a couple in Calis, using the same company and leaving it to the last minute before being told they cannot collect it!!!
