Daily interest account.
« on: April 20, 2010, 13:54:22 PM »
Hi All. Can anyone please explain to me about daily interest account please. I opened one on Friday with my bank for the purposes of paying communal bills on our complex. It is in my name and today I realised that I had not paid enough contributions so I went to my bank to pay in the extra funds. I was shocked to find that after paying in more money that I have been charged 15.75TL for a bill paying facility that I don't want (this is charged every 3 months apparently) and 2.63TL x 3 for bank statements for January, Febuary and March (even though the account was opened on 16th April.I was also informed that I don't get interest on this account. Is this information correct? If so I cannot see any advantage to having this account.Any information would be appreciated.

Chris, if as i suspect the daily account still runs the same way, they play the stock market with your hard earned after about 11 am your balance will show zero until the close of banking,  (as i found to my cost some years ago) my advice would be to close this account down asap, maybe the charges were at a time when the bank was playing with your money? and account was showing a zero balance? speak to Cenk on this site he will point you in the right direction.

Thanks for all your help Kevin. I just hope there is some money left in my account tomorrow morning for me to withdraw!!.
I hope that I can close this account without too much hassle, and without losing too much more of my hard earned cash. Mind you I can always threaten to move ALL of our accounts to another bank.
Chris.
