Money by carrier.
« on: June 25, 2010, 14:36:05 PM »
Something that put a smile on my face last week, was the handing over
of a considerable amount of TL (I don't know how many thousands certainly if you can imagine wads approx 3"thick of 100TL bills and 50TL)via a carrier bag which was inspected over the counter in front of my wife and I, the counter assistants apology for the delay in supplying us with 20TL top up for our phones.(Yes this was not a bank just a shop!!
This is so reminiscent of when we bought our apartment six years ago and the English Estate agent went with £7000-00 of our money as a deposit for our apartment to Hisaranu on the dolmush!!!!to pay the vendor.
I imagine but could not confirm that this must have been a similar transaction. :o

It not unusual for large amounts of cash to be given to bus drivers to handover at their destination without any paperwork. It's all about trust.
