Moving to Turkey
« on: August 28, 2013, 17:57:20 PM »
I'm supposed to be moving to my villa in Koca Calis on 9 October.  Due to the troubles in Syria I have to decide whether to go ahead with the move or stay in the UK.  What advice can you give me?  I will be on my own so have no-one else to rely on.

Kevin, I can understand the lady having concerns, and you really need to brush up on your geography; from Allepo on the Syrian Border to Fethiye, Mugla, is 739.548108513km = 459mi 939.64yd , precisely.

My kids are just concerned about me going.  They say that there could be a war on between Syria - Turkey, UK, USA & others going against them!

In my own humble opinion, I believe that there should be more concern regarding the amount of Syrian refugees flooding into Turkey, than any danger due to a supposed war breaking out. Inshallah !

If you would avoid London if war broke out in Slovakia, then you must avoid Fethiye at all costs. This is because it is the same distance from London to Slovakia as it is from Fethiye to Damascus.

You can't be too careful.

If there is one thing the massive, well equipped and well trained Turkish army is good at, is protecting its borders. I don't see the country overflowing with Iraqi or Iranian refugees following conflicts in their countries and so neither do I fear the same should Turkey be drawn into the current Syrian conflict.

You can be sure that if military action is called for by the USA or NATO, there is more chance that the UK will be called into the conflict and with both Russia & China still unconvinced that military intervention is appropriate, then I feel that could be more of a concern.

Oh THAT Syria   ;)
1200 km by road according to my Google Maps (but I guess the fighter planes wouldn't go by road !!!)
As others have said - go and enjoy  ;D ;D ;D
