« on: January 25, 2015, 13:12:13 PM »
Jamie Oliver's restaurant in Turkey has been forced to file for bankruptcy after only 14 months of operation.

The Jamie's Italian in Istanbul's $2.5billion Zorlu Center Mall was unable to reach targets due to a tough economic climate, it was reported.

Friends of ours went to the Jamie Oliver Restaurant in Aberdeen.  After they left, they went straight to the Chipper for a Fish Supper.   Apparently, Jamie's food was nice, but very small portions.  :o :

I've read this article and can't make any sense of it. Is the restaurant closing or not? Is it the franchise which is going bankrupt and JO Restaurants putting in a new management?

Filing for bankruptcy protection doesn't necessarily end in closure. It's a legal way of asking for time to restructure the organisation and it's debts.

I have eaten in the JO in Bath and it was very good. I have eaten in the JO in Bristol and it was very disappointing. I don't know how much leeway JO franchisees have over menu and quantity but these two restaurants were definitely very different. Perhaps the Instanbul franchisee wasn't up to it or perhaps the JO business plan doesn't fit.
