Phones at the Airport
« on: October 03, 2009, 20:38:53 PM »
When we arrive we are supposed to ring the people who look after the apartment so they can meet us with the key. My mobile carrier Orange doesn't work in Turkey so will need to use a landline. What coins do I need to make a call and will any of the shops give me change of a note to do so?

Perhaps your text on the phone will work, my mobile will not let me make calls in Turkey but my text on the phone is fine..  Alternatively, you could always ask your taxi driver to ring for you and give him a few lira for the call.

We  have a hire car from Cathy Green at the Pazar so maybe she will phone ahead for us, was certainly very helpful the first time we came and didn't have a clue where we were staying. :-\

Yes PAYG, I don't use it enough to warrant getting a contract.
I'm down in Milton Karennina.

When you are in Turkey most of the little markets sell phonecards, they are about 10 lira 4 a 50 unit card, much cheaper then using your mobile phone.

The villa we are staying at has a mobile we can use freely when we are there, it's just when we arrive we need to arrange for someone to met us with the key. I'll check with orange that I have roaming available in Turkey, seeing as it is classed as not being in Europe.
