Hi we have been coming to Calis for the last 12 years and this forum has been brilliant for good information and has answered all of our questions over the years, it saddens me to see my last question was in March this year asking about the Mutlu and that is still the last post on that section. Could it just be that apart from the obvious Covid where many of us have suffered losses that we are maybe all getting older and no new members joining , I don't know but it is a shame. We came over in June for three weeks and it was great apart from the racing track on the promenade and we are back in 2 weeks, just wanted to say i hope this forum keeps going. We are retired and go on holiday many times a year to different places but Calis is our No 1 place..

Many of the members are still alive and well and, together with loads of new members, posting on the Calis Beach page on Facebook.

I check in on the Forum daily for a nose. I do not use Facebook and have no wish to do so, far too intrusive for my liking
I am pleased the Forum is still online and still contains a Mine of information in the Search Engine. Many thanks to Keith, God Bless him.

It's gone spookily quiet on here again, just had 3 fantastic weeks in Calis, sad to go home :(
But off to Istanbul next week and maybe Calis end of October :D
-
Hi spo 6666 How were your 3 weeks in Calis, how were the prices and any changes.??
-
It was excellent, yes prices have gone up, some places to the max >:( but with the exchange rate being so high,I felt it was ok to a certain extent. i.e. Gocek tunnel previously about £1 to go through, 21tl to the £, made it about £0.75 to go through, so for tourists not too bad. for locals that's a totally different matter, they do suffer with the high prices :(
-
Thanks for your response and pleased you had a good time. It must be awful for the locals with inflation and less tourist money to go round.

Good morning from a cold and overcast W Midlands...yes, it's gone quiet after the Christmas 3CCCs appeal. Best wishes to everyone and may Calis and Fethiye be ever in your thoughts.

Hi Tosh Tosh & Everyone
We are fine after new year in Calis, then back again at easter, ready for the big move over in September :)
-
Hi all,
We are over in calis in April. Went last April for the first time in spring (usually go July/Aug) and really enjoyed it, especially the weather being pleasant. We got to do more walking & exploring, something we wouldn't normally do in the summer months due to the heat. It was nice experiencing a different time of year there.

An interesting statement from KKOB about how many members and visitors are now posting on the Calis beach Facebook page, I cant help but feel that after 20 years of being a member and visiting this site often that I and many others are now at a diss advantage simply because we choose not to use Facebook and are now unable to view topics and conversations posted on the Facebook platform.

I agree with Woody, I don't use facebook at all and seem to be missing out on the chat :(

I always used to visit the site everyday but as has been said the posts seemed to have become less and less. It just needs a few people to make an effort to post on here instead of Facebook and hopefully get things going on here again. Unfortunately I can’t make any plans at the moment to visit because of ill health but I’m sure I will be glad of the advice when I’m able to start planning again.
The scenes of devastation from the earthquake are heartbreaking but it has been posted on Facebook this morning that people are still being found alive, hopefully there will be more, a lot of the workers are from that area and go home during the winter so praying that none are affected.
Sorry if I’ve rambled on but I know how valuable I’ve found the site in the past and wouldn’t want to lose it, thanks goes to admin as well, take care everyone.

susyq.......lovely post which expressed the widespread feelings of so many people throughout the world. My own thoughts and prayers are with those who lost their lives and all the bereaved and suffering people who must be devastated at their loss and struggling to exist in the awful aftermath of the earthquake.
-
Totally agree with suzyq and Dennis :)
-
Bloomin 'eck, quiet again.
We are back in Calis in 3 weeks time, looking forward to a bit of R&R :)
-
We really enjoyed April there last year, so hopefully we have the same decent weather this April when we go back. Enjoy your R&R when it comes spo6666 :)
-
We'd made plans to come out Easter break, but my youngest is studying for her GCSEs and regrettably, we decided Fethiye would be too much distraction. So, we're back to late June, July and August.
Still check this site first thing every day; it seems to have none of the trolls that often frequent the Facebook groups.
Stay safe and well.

Back again on Thursday for 7 weeks, anything exciting happening in Calis?
-
Spo6666 I believe the bridge by the water taxis is being repaired, that's exciting. 😁 I've seen pics of what it should look like and it looks nice. Maybe you could upload a photo of its progress. :)
