I used to be a huge fan of Prince Harry for his Invictus Games (still am in that regard) but his announcement that he and his wife are stepping down as "senior" royals is appalling behaviour.
If reports are correct he has already decided to keep the house that the tax payers paid to have renovated at a cost of £2.4m.
What a nerve. along with the announcement itself, to male that decision without referenece to the Queen.

They are both very rich and lead a very privileged life, yet they still accept/expect public cash for a house they do not intend to live in, but use as a UK address. Think how much our charities and hospitals etc could have benefited from that amount of cash. Thought it said if all when they went to the poorest part of Africa and then made it all about themselves, moaned about how they struggled !! and felt wounded ! Have no time for them.

I think they need to avoid driving through tunnels.

So,its all going to plan!!

Who on earth will notice their absence?
They are independently rich, from an inheritance and from her earnings from TV; he will keep his income from the Duchy of Cornwall, yet BBC news are asking how they’ll manage. This must be an important question to millions of ordinary people, relying on working tax credits and relying on food banks or waiting for hours on trolleys in A&zero.
-
yet BBC news are asking how they’ll manage.
Probably concerned that they might not be able to pay their TV licence.
-
Shoot me down if you must but I think they should reimburse the public purse both for the renovation and the costs of policing their wedding.
I'm not sure this hasn't been the intention all along.
A once extremely popular and respected member of our Royal family has given the country the finger
-
From a fully anti royal - a guy who saw his mother hounded to/till her death now fears a similar fate could be ahead of his wife. Appears many people think this is about keeping a house and all the perks - I wonder how many of you would choose a house and trimmings if it meant the person you were closest to in your life might be forfeited along the way.
No nerve, no middle finger. There is "appalling behaviour" at work - not from them though.
-
My reference to appalling behaviour was the manner in which they have gone about this.
-
I don’t see any appalling behaviour by him/them. He put his partner ahead of his role, admirable I would suggest.
-
Maybe so but it's my opinion that he/they should have had the courtesy of, at the very least, informing other members of family of his plans before announcing them.
-
I don't tell my family what I am going to do before I do it :D

That's probably because Steph knows what you are going to do before you do. ;) ;) ;)

I don't know why they announced their decision. Why not just 'slip away quietly'? It's really not as if they would be missed!! Yet another way of Megan hijacking the headlines.
I have always felt that Harry has been 'a means to an end' for Megan. From the start of their relationship (IMHO) she has been the one making all the demands and playing the victim card.
I say that they should just go, get on with their lives and stop taking public money. I do feel sorry for Harry though, He has served his purpose for her, and I feel that He will be 'dropped' by Megan when it suits her.

The monarchy is outdated. All that pomp and circumstance isn’t appreciated by the majority of people nowadays. Maybe the Japanese or Americans think it’s wonderful but THEY don’t pay for it! Prince Charles is all for streamlining the whole thing. Other riyal families from abroad are more in touch with their people than our lotcare.
-
Agree, if they want out I have no problem with that, but they are both very rich and if they are not interested in supporting the royal family, snd upset by thd press, then by all means go, live where they want but on their own money and hopefully as plain Mr and Mrs Harry Windsor. I can understand Harry wanting to protect his wife and family, but Megan surely went into that marriage knowing what she was letting herself In for, and she strikes me as being well able to get her own way and do exactly as she wants, hopefully Harry is fully on board with her thinking.

I think you'll find most people do support the Royal Family.

I admit to being a fan and a very proud Royalist. :)

No need, I knew that already :)

Looks like Canada doesn't want them either.

They ought to have a referendum. ;)

Clive Lewis suggested one for this country :( :( :(

Think about the MP for your constituency; now think about making him MP for life, and making a law so that only his offspring could succeed him/her, no matter their suitability for the role.
Ridiculous and undemocratic.
If the sign on Boris’s door said ‘President’ would it really make a jot of difference?
