Bringing a dog from UK to Turkey
« on: May 25, 2018, 19:37:48 PM »
Hi all

I was hoping someone could help me out, we are looking to bring out dog from the Uk to turkey

We've had the following done:
- microchipped
- rabies vaccination 2 weeks ago
- pet passport

We were told the health certificate and letter can be issued in time for the flight, the only thing outstanding is a rabies blood test

Does anyone know the process with this, how long after the vaccination can the blood test be done and how soon after the blood test can we fly out

Also is this all that is required? No other requirements for exporting pets from uk to Turkey

??? Feel rather confused with conflicting information from our visit to Turkish versus the advice of the vets  :o

Many thanks!

We used Woodview Boarding Kennels to do all vaccinations, tests, paperwork, flight crates, flight bookings and delivery to the plane when we exported our dogs to Turkey.

Further information is here. http://www.pettravel.com/immigration/turkey.cfm

If you have any further doubts contact DEFRA https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-environment-food-rural-affairs

Defra lists the definitive process on their website. Also, we found them very helpful on the telephone. I think their is a specific time fron the result of the blood test and your flight that has to be adhered to.

But please check the web site. .

Some years ago we arranged for our street dog Daisy to come and live with us in Uk. We used a guy based in Fethiye who had a specially adapted van. Really sorry cant remember his name. But it took 4 days travelling across Europe and he arranged vaccinations etc and bought Daisy to our door and it cost £700. However on reflection I think it far less stressful for the dogs to fly although I am sure it costs more. Good luck

There's not a huge amount of difference in price but it's far less stressful over a much shorter period of times for the dogs to fly.
