Title: Hotel Websites
Post by: Highlander on March 26, 2019, 12:25:56 PM
As regular members will know the present Mrs H and I spent many years staying at Letoon Hotel at the far end of the prom.

We loved it and had so many exceptionally happy holidays there.

It was always reasonably priced and just out of curiosity I wondered how much it cost these days:

The following are the results of my search. Prices are for 14 nights in a standard room with breakfast included.

Love holidays - £ 2,827 per person

Alpha Rooms - £ 5,019 for 2

On the Beach - £ 2,758.34 per person

Travel Republic - £ 812 for 2

Expedia - £ 812 for 2

My questions would be 1. why the huge discrepancies and 2. who in their right mind would pay £ 5,650 to stay there.

I see one web site I looked at .  say eg 14 th June to 28 June  14 nights BB room for two is on offer @ only £572

2. who in their right mind would pay £ 5,650 to stay there.

Probably the kind of person who'd rather buy a Rolls Royce than a Ford Mondeo.

looks to me like those sky high prices are for the big letoon hotel  .the big one  over the other side of fethiye not the calis letoon

Letoonia bluclad but surely three wouldn't make the same mistake and their photos are all of Letoon, Calis.

I've always thought it is when they don't have any rooms to sell at a certain hotel

Why then do they not just say "No availability for your dates"

I didn't go through the whole process but when I clicked "Book Hotel" the next page appeared.

I've also come across this with some hotels and various sites. It's usually been early in the year  so assumed that they haven't set their rates for that season yet. Not sure that would apply now though as we're only a month away from the official start of summer season.   ???

It could be down to google ranking for the hotel on the reseller agent websites

We had a website selling cot mattresses and products ranked high on google, but if the product was out of stock the item on the google search would drop out of the high ranking on google. and it was not easy to get it back up.

So we did exactly the same thing if we were out of stock, put the cost up so high no one would buy it and the ranking stayed high , and we would lower the price when back in stock.

Its probably so thay can legitimately have a "sale" and advertise 90% discount - reduced from £5K to £500

  :)

Why then do they not just say "No availability for your dates"

Because, if you are prepared to pay over 2 grand for a room, they'll go find that room  :)

We stayed next door to the Letoon in the Sunset apts. for six weeks  April/May last year. Our balcony overlooked the hotel and until our last week there was never any staying there. I checked various websites at least once a week and it was always the same  "No vacancies for your dates"  We did really think it was a bit strange.

Such a shame Ally B.

Sensational location, basic, but spotless rooms in beautifully keep gardens and, when we went, the most superb staff and "owners" you could wish for and who very quickly became "family".

You were right, Highlander!

Did you actually think he might not be right and could be making the whole thing up?!?!

Hope you are satisfied now you have checked yourself.

I confess that I had the same thoughts.

I hadn't realised that I had to include a link to prove I wasn't making the figures up. :( :( :(

I never thought he might be making it up;  I was just so incredulous, I thought maybe they’d made a mistake and corrected it later.
