Title: Premier league
Post by: Stuart T on February 03, 2016, 21:31:06 PM
Can Leicester win it?

City still favourites with me but wouldn't it be good if they could (at least) qualify for Europe?

My hopes for Torquay already shattered so shouting for the little guys.

Would be good to see someone like Leicester winning it instead of the usual BIG clubs like Man City Man Utd. Chelsea Liverpool and was going to say Arsenal but they never win anything. Watched Leicester last night and they looked good. What a goal!!!!

playing some good football at the moment.

At this particular time I was not home to Mr Football, but seems I cannot leave it alone.  This 'time' being the usual period under Wenger that Arsenal start to stumble and fall in the race for the PL.  Although they have shown earlier in the season that they can play well, but in too many recent games they fail to score goals, can't defend and do not show enough grit and spit in the battle on the pitch!!

And if we aint going to do it then good luck to Leicester, who have demonstrated throughout the season all those things listed above that Arsenal have not shown since we left our 'A' game in the struggle for CL qualifications before xmas.  I also like the fact that they have been able to bring on players from the lower English leagues.  Something that most 'big' clubs cannot do or choose not to do, whilst being prepared to look at the lower leagues in France, Spain or Italy.

Oh yes just to correct Mr Toky, Arsenal not winning anything? Your right if you are reffering to the PL or CL, but we have won the FA Cup for the last two seasons.  Welcome though those wins are to Arsenal fans, it is still not enough for us to keep on Wenger.

Wenger Out......

Can Leicester win it?

Win their next 2 games and they could be well on the way to the title.

I know a foxes season ticket holder who was strongly against the tinkerman when he was appolnted manager. They have done really well and must be in with a shout now.

My top four at the end of season

Fantasy - West Ham  Leicester  Spurs  Man City
Reality   -  Man City  Spurs  Leicester  Arsenal

A reasonable "reality"  assumption Badger - strange, though, to see no Chelsea, Man Utd. Liverpool in there but West Ham is  - as you say - pure fantasy.

Not a hope in Hades of them makin top four.

May you keep on blowing bubbles (always liked 'arry).

Apologies USB regarding not winning anything (re FA Cups). Was more referring to PL and CL where they start well and never consistent and always fall away. Probably time for a change at the top. Again it would be good to see one of the so called smaller teams winning it

Wouldn't it be good......"to dream the impossible dream" (you're all humming it now).

Plus, I make many pennies which will go to "Embrace".

Money talks as far as players are concerned as they have a short shelf life. But as for manager I am not convinced it is all about money.I believe they just  truly do want to get to be  known as as a good manager not necessarily a great manager.Job satisfaction.

Guess you're forgetting Mourinho, Guardiola, Clough, Ferguson et al.

Hardly the smallest of egos.

However, amongst lesser mortals, you may well be right.

Not wholly sure they want to be considered as anything but employed.

So all of them only did it for the money...not to hopefully achieve their goal as being a good/great in Fergies case a great manager?
I dont think so.  :)

None would have been happy with being a "good" manager.

Money didn't enter in to it - nor into my reasoning.

They only wanted to be "great" managers.

Egos.

Pure and simple (however, nothing wrong with that - they all became great managers).

They did, but not without a lot of cash backing them up.

So no manager is any good or great unless he is given millions to send on players? Nothing to do with how good he is, just how much he can spend.  What planet are you on   :)

Didn't say you were.

Football is - as is the rest of the developing and developed world.

It's the "first" world.

(next comes communist then "third" world developing nations).

Them's the labels.

Argue at your leisure.

Top class managers, each and every one of them.

Don't understand your second line.

They are exemplary managers - but hardly satisfied with merely being "good". Each and every one of them wants (or wanted) to be "great".

Exemplary managers? What made them that then?Just money Stuart . No ambition, drive, skill, reading of the game? Or as you say Money.
Title: Re: Premier league

Each and every one of them had ambition, drive, skill, experience and reading of the game.

Let them try it at Torquay - with no money.

Every one of them would crash and burn.

Now, if a financially sound benefactor supported them with gozillions - Torquay would be a top notch premiership team.

My dream........

Getting back to the original topic, I couple of points....

The players at Chelsea FC should take a long hard look at themselves and their attitude this season and compare it with that of the Leicester City players.

People are saying that the pressure will become greater and greater on Leicester Cit. Why !. They were not expected to win the league so can continue to play with that freedom. Also what about the pressure on the chasing pack. In a season of unexpected results none of them can afford to drop points and are playing catch up.
