I think the town is ecstatic - the manager Keith Hill was a player in the lower divisions and only took over in 2006 - and in his 3 full seasons has: reached play offs - reached pay offs - got promoted - not a bad record - you could do with him at Upton Park  ;)

He must have a good sense of humour as well - interviewed on Radio 5 last night and asked would they now go on to win it - big crunch game with Notts County in mid week - his reply was: "well if we don;t catch them - the tax man will" - great response!!!

Ian

Ps Graham Paddon (who sadly died a couple of years ago) who lived a few hundred yards from me and we went to the same school and played in the same teams was in your team with Alan Taylor as well.  :)

Fantastic scenes at the end - what football is all about, not John Terry's obscene wages.

Or indeed John Terry's obscene language, clear to lip read on MOTD last night. Well done to Rochdale and the others who gained promotion yesterday - another notable being Norwich, steered back into the Championship by the born winner Paul Lambert. Not bad for a man who inherited a club who, just 10 days earlier, had started this season with a 7-1 home defeat by Colchester.

Agreed on Paul Lambert - listened to him being interviewed - when asked if going down was a good thing so that clubs could regroup - he answered very firmly "no - don't ever go down is the obvious objective!"

Very very level headed, straight forward and uncomplicated - what a refreshing change!! He will be hard to keep hold of!

Yes - you are spot on!

I always thought players like that were a luxury that only West Ham could afford  ;)
