you could have jesus christ or john the babtist, but unfortunately for english football, we only have foreign players in the premier league now, and even they couldnt perform miracles, dont forget England won nothing since 1966.:(

Right back to the days of Brian Clough the England managers job has never been given to the peoples choice. So if Hodgson gets the job whats changed.

1. The majority of the Scottish Nation wanted Ally MacLeod as the national team manager.

2. In a "results business" Hodgson has a better win % than Redknapp.

I find it strange Redknapp wasn't even approached but they summed it up on the news, Hodgson is a much cheaper choice.

It wasn't the wages they would have to pay Harry,it was the large sums that had to go into his dogs account.: :):D

As an Albion supporter I wish they had gone for Redknapp.  When Hodgson came to the Albion after they sacked Di Matteo we looked certain for relegation but ended the season in 11th place, this season we are currently lying in 10th place, which to supporters of teams like Manchester United, Man City and Chelsea doesn't sound great but to a team like Albion with very limited financial resources isn't bad going. I can see where the FA are coming from, Hodgson has managed the likes of Inter Milan and on the International scene he took Switzerland to the last 16 in the 1994 World Cup and took them into 3rd place in the International Standings. Another factor is the financial one, he is currently out of contract with the Albion and was in the course of negotiations which means they won't have to pay any compensation to the club. The England job is a poison chalice but if he is offered the post I can't see him turning it down, he is 64 and it would be a pinnacle to his career as a manager. Phil

Yes Phil and that shows that it's horses for courses - Di Matteo couldn't do it with WBA but seems to be fine at the higher level so far, Hodgson the opposite - he can do it with WBA or Switzerland but not with Inter Milan or Liverpool. That to me is CLEARLY the problem here.
