Where to get a good meze starter?
« on: July 19, 2007, 09:33:43 AM »
When we go to the Nargile Turkish Restaurant in Aberdeen (where there last Saturday) We always order the Meze Starter.  This is our absolute favourite.  It comprises a lot of small dishes being put out on the table, which include - tuna, avocado and yoghurt.  Houmous with spices, chicken and sweetcorn, Beetroot sliced with spices.  Yoghurt and mint etc., etc., all served with hot sliced pita bread. Halfway through eating this we are then served with hot sliced sausage, chicken drumsticks and hot battered parcels containing feta cheese.   This meze is almost a meal in itself.
My question is - Is there anywhere that serves this in Calis/Fethiye?
We have tried lots of restaurants, and have seen Meze on the menu, but it's usually just a dish of garlic yoghurt.
Must admit after visiting the Nargile before our first visit to Turkey we always thought we were getting typical Turkish food, but perhaps, this is a Scottish adaptation?
Jacqui.
