A little late to run this but there was a good reason
Same complicated set-up as for the Grand National. I will allocate each of the 42 countries with a number randomly.
Members who want to participate simply pick the number(s) between 1 and 42 they want. I then publish the list of the songs and the CBF member whose number corresponds to them just before the contest which is on Sunday so we need to press on.
The price of a country is £ 5.00 (unless you want to make it something different ) and the winner will receive a prize to the value of £ 20.00.
It's not too early to pick your number - so book early to avoid disappointment.
Please help the children if you can. :)

So it turns out that there are only 26 entries in the Grand Final - aggghhhhhhhhh !!!.
This means that there are only 6 numbers left.
Please chose one and I will re-organise the random allocation.
Sorry folks :-[ :-[ :-[
-
Have sent my money via PayPal. You could have had a comp to guess how many points the UK will get as I think Mr Cameron may have been canvassing some votes with his friends in the EU !
-
And very gratefully received phil5257 as was jacqui harvey's, swindsor's and echogirl1's.
Many thanks to all.
Still 6 left :)
-
Put me in for another H. You cant have any spaces.
-
Thanks bewva.
I have been going through thus and there may only be one left.
Will let you know shortly :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
-
Right folks I think I have sorted this out.
Bewva - I gave you number 16 which meant that there was only 1 of the 26 numbers left.
This has been taken by a member who wishes to remain anonymous and who offer to taken the remaining numbers when I said there were still 22 left. A fantastically generous offer but but by no means the first made by this member over the years. Thank you so much.
List to follow shortly.

Tonight's line up is as follows (we got there in the end - I think)

I'm off to take a tablet and a lie down in a darken room : :)
-
chris35 - your donation also gratefully received :)
-
Well done John for your sterling efforts. :)
-
For some reason my message was repeated. Sorry folks
-
And the winner is, I am delighted to say is lotty.
The smallest of good news.
We were at a function last night so didn't see the contest but it sounds like Australia (stuartT) came a very good second.
Thanks so much to everyone who took part in such a rushed fund raiser and helped the children.
I had planned to do a sweep stake for the European Football Championship but it would have clashed with the Auction which is the 3 C's major fund raiser.
The Auction is a huge amount of work so let's all try and make sure it's a great success. :)
Thanks again
-
As John says, a very small ray of sunshine for Lotty. Thinking of you x
-
Well done to Lotty.
And a very well done to Highlander.
-
Yes well done Lotty and thanks to Highlander for organising the competition at such short notice.
Personally I really disliked the winning song, too much screeching and no tune whatsoever - still what do I know as loads voted for it :-\
-
Thanks for doing it, John.
Will send pennies in the usual way.
I was robbed! (though what Australia were doing there anyway is beyond me) : )
However, pleased for Lotty, of course.
-
Thanks stuartT - that will be splendid.
Many thanks and also to kevin3 and lotty whose donations arrived safely.
-
Oh Good Lord! How did that happen? I'm a bit confused. . . (Edit) Oh yes! I had 2 numbers. Not fully with it, I only saw the UK one duh! :)
Thank you so much everyone for your very kind comments. :)
John please add it to the charity fund.
xx
-
A wonderful gesture lotty but no more than members would have expected from such a kind lady.
Many thanks :)
-
A huge thank you to "anon" for an extremely generous donation.
This is by no means the first time this member has made a big donation and although I would dearly like to say who it is I must respect their wish for anonymity.
-
marina - your kind donation safely received.
Many thanks for helping the children. :)
-
I sent my donation by Paypal last week - hope it arrived safely :)
-
It did swindsor - see my post of 14 May ;)
-
Oops - I missed that! :)
-
stuartT - your generous donation safely received.
Very many thanks for helping the kids :)
-
steveb1 - your generous donation safely received.
Many thanks for taking part. :)
-
Can I ask jim fraser and hamlet to confirm that they will be kind enough to donate in Calis.
If so I will be able to wrap things up at this end. :)
-
The more observant of you will have noticed that I replied to hamlet in the Grand National thread - my apologies.
The good news however is that even with such a rushed event (in place of the planned European Football Championship one), the wonderfully generous members of this Forum have raised another £ 300.00 for the under privileged children in the area we all love.
So each and everyone of you kind people - take a bow.
Thank you all so much and of course many thanks to scunner for providing the platform . :)
-
Well done everyone involved and thank you once again Highlander for all your hard work. :)
