Title: Latest posts first
Post by: lizdev on June 14, 2012, 15:05:19 PM
I've tried searching but can't find how to get the latest posts first - can this be done?

It can be done - but only for everyone. Any others prefer it this way?

Yes please, I think. I am still getting used to this system but thought I had kind of sorted it to a kind of active topics style.

I do miss the posts being separated by the section headings too although this way it does seem to give all posts a fairer chance of being read as I believe some sections are read more than others.

It is frustrating that the topic disappears after you read it unless you remember to mark it as unread as if yu don't post on the first read you then have to hunt for it later.

If you look at the bottom of the main page www.calis-beach.co.uk/forum you should now see the most recent 25 posts (Keith...Current Theme-settings if you don't like it)

I like it  :) I agree it was a bit difficult to find a topic once you read it in unread posts since last visit and it wasn't in there anymore (which it wouldn't be, being a read unread post :D )

Is last 25 too many or do members think about right?

Back to the original question

When you view a topic do you want to see:

1. Oldest message first (current design)

Or

2. Latest message first

Latest message first would be my preference.

Latest first is ok for a topic that is lively when you read it but won't make much sense if someone reads it for the first time a year later...

If you click on the topics in the new 25 Most recent list on the front page you go to the latest post first - that makes sense...

Would it be possible to have an option in Account Settings in a members Profile.

Well well well...you are absolutely right Highlander

Each person can change the order they see posts by going to their profile, click on modify profile, look and layout and then change the option
