Title: Donkey missing?
Post by: Rindaloo on June 28, 2008, 11:44:46 AM
I heard someone had had their donkey stolen (?) from a nearby village.  This was a pet.  Does anyone know if he got it back.  He must be very worried, I know I would be.  :(

I hope by now there is good news..

You will be pleased to know that the donkey has been found. It belongs to our friends, Kevin & Maggie, who live round at Bucak, which is under the Kisibel turning on the Denizle road out of Uzumlu. It was stolen/relieved of its grazing position, last Sunday and after much searching found on Thursday in Incirkoy, where they had to pay a finders fee of 20YTL.

Oh Smashing.  I hope there's some way they can insure it doesn't go missing again.  It must be very unsettling to think your neighbours might have been involved.

:(

Donkey?
its realy very difficult to understand britons.
Some are talking about the noise of dogs and cockerels and others are having donkey.
Have you ever heard the noise of a donkey.
Turkish people don't let neigbours to keep donkey. If those britons have turkish neigbours i am sure that they will have many problems.

Hmm, that's odd.  We can hear a donkey near us and we used to hear one when we stayed in Kaya.  Never bothered me...  Now the blasted dogs that set up a karaoke each night, yes that does get on my wick, but if you ignore it you get used to it.  On specially noisy nights I realise how bad it is.  Nothing we can do about it.  Burasi Turkey.

Rindaloo  -  no its not a donkey up a tree, I think you were probably right with your first guess of Cicadas !!!!:D:D

(Got three Donkeys in the olive grove right next to our house, when the windows are open, its positively operatic !)

I am wondering, is that the Kevin and Maggie that use to look after a couple of villas in the village? We have met them several times when staying in the village over the past couple of years. If it is can you tell them "Hi" from Wendy and Halil and maybe we will see them again when we are over next week and staying in the village. Thanks

Yes you are right ''Burasi Turkey'' and there is too many thing that britons didnt now and didn't want to know about village life and village people.
I am sure you have seen many old women from village carrying wood on their back. Do you know why do they carry all these on back instead of having a donkey and carry on it. To understand these you must ask village people about donkeys, what do they think about donkeys, why they dont use them and keep them in village life. Also ask them please about sexual position of donkeys and village teenagers.

Ottoman, you join this group but I don't think you are being friendly.  Many people belong to this group who love Turkey and it's people.  We are trying to help each other with living in your beautiful country.  Some of the things that happen in Turkey are strange to us and so any help we can get or any help we can give each other is very much appreciated.  So please think of this before you post.  We aren't looking for a fight, it is you that seems to be looking for a fight....

Rindaloo
Sorry if you think that. But my English is poor and I dont know how to write kind on forum. I am not here for fight and dont want to fight with anybody. I found this forum at search engine and had a look for half an hour. Then I wanted to write and inform you about a subject and Turkish vilage peole. Welcome to Turkey all British people. I have many british friends and like them.
Please tell people around to not to do what village people dont like othervise british people will lose respect from locals.

Ottoman, we British who have moved here also like Turkey.  We try and respect the culture and way of life but, please remember, we are still learning.
I found your posts on the donkey/woman subject offensive.  I also found your comment/photos about 'old village women' offensive.  Please think 'is this funny, or not?' before putting on.

As someone who has a house in a very Turkish farming village, I would like to know more about village life and would absolutely hate to upset the local village people by my ignorance so any advice is most welcome Ottoman. I'm not sure I fully understand your "donkey" posings but would welcome further detail though as I reckon you are keen to help us Brits
