Hi, can anyone tell me the date of next year's Mushroom Festival please?
-
It's not been announced yet but it's usually in the first few weeks of April..
-
We've got fingers crossed.....sadly our dates haven't worked for the last couple of years. Its a fantastic couple of days for the village, and we love it :)
-
Thought I read somewhere in the last couple of days that it may not happen this year. Something between organisers and Belediye.
-
I was told last year, by a Turkish friend, something along the lines of, the Belediye had funded it for the 4 years since inception. After this period the government would either grant, or not grant, it a 'festival' status. If it was granted then funding would come from the government. If not, the Belediye would not continue to fund it. As yet there is no information forthcoming as to whether it is granted or not.
-
It would be such a shame if the Uzumlu Mushroom Festival is not continued. What a waste of all of the hard work and goodwill input, to build it up over the last four years. People come from far & wide and the event gives a real boost to the village & villagers.
Each year it has improved, offered something new and the whole village comes out to support the festival.
The atmosphere is fabulous, especially on the last night when the square is packed to capacity and it's lovely to see everyone having fun together.
-
Been speaking to Mehmet :) , he recons there will be a festival :) so fingers crossed ,probably best person to ask is Bashkan !!!
-
Just wondering if there's any word yet re this years festival. Thanks
-
Think things are still up in the air at the moment Phil !! :( will keep asking around and post on here when any firm news!! :)
-
Why don't the Uzumlu Ladies organise it? :)
-
I wasn't aware that the mushroom festival was a charity event Tinkerman, as you know, the ULG only arrange events that raise money for charity and they do it very well I must say.
-
They certainly do it very well and if other bodies are not willing to promote this popular event why not make it a charity event, it certainly is very popular and brings in a lot of people? :)
-
Mushroom Festival now set for 19th to the 21st April more info to follow!!!! :)
-
Thank you for letting us know the date of the Mushroom Festival for this year.
-
You are so welcome !! there is a web site for the festival which will be up dated soon :)!!Me thinks it is :)

The fees for the mushroom hunt will be Lira not Sterling. Chrome translate is a bit weird like that.
-
Thanks Eric , will put my Turkish dictionary away till next time . ;) :)
-
Thanks for posting the programme Eric. Do you know who the English speaking contact for the festival is this year?
-
I'm afraid not, as yet.
-
Hi Eric. Mehmet at the Grapes has been mentioned as the contact - do you know if this is right and what his contact details are? Thanks
-
He may know something. You can contact him through the Grape Garden Facebook page;
https://www.facebook.com/grape.garden?ref=ts&fref=ts
-
I think it is Mehmet,s cousin Mehmet is the contact :o , confusing I know but Mehmet one will steer you in the right direction!! :) ;)
-
Thanks for the Program in english, Eric.
If any of you want to have it handy on their smart phones, or they want to view it more graphically how each event overlaps with other events so you can plan ahead which ones you want to be a part of -you can bookmark, or simply visit my new facebook page (keyword 'FETHIYEANDAROUND' ;) and click on the link there to the Google Calendar for Fethiye.andAround.com.
https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=7sejo5nf7hqeqiecl2r1i83l38%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=Europe%2FIstanbul (https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=7sejo5nf7hqeqiecl2r1i83l38%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=Europe%2FIstanbul)
not sure if i did the 'link' thing correct -my apologies if i screwed up.
-
Glad to see the link thing works. If you go there I recommend the 'week' view, and set your Google Calendar preferences as 'Monday' to be your first day of the week. This way you can see the weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun) as one chunk of a time slice, not Sunday on the left, and Fri-Sat all the way on the other end. And on the 'Week' view the events of the Festival stack up as different sized boxes overlapping each other based on length of time.
sorry -got carried away. I love 'infographics'! :)
-
Thanks Jacob. Very useful.
-
Start of Festival today , weather brightening up as well :). Music and fun everyday in the square and surrounding street,s and bars ;) ,worth a trip up the hill . :)
