Prices this year?
« on: July 20, 2004, 07:08:55 AM »
My friends has just returned from Calis. He says the prices have gone down, we in the UK are not used to this (prices falling!). Have they gone down?

Prices are slightly higher than last year for drink & food, but exchange rate this year is also slightly better for us Brits, so its pretty much the same as last year.  Confused?  I am!

Cheers Colin.

Do you or does anyone else know what the local exchange rate is. If its that good I won't change up so much before we leave the UK.

£1 = TL 2,650,000 when I was there but that was 3 weeks ago now, for travellers cheques or sterling with no commission.  However, I think you will find it will have dropped a bit since then.  Whatever the case, you will find that the rate you get out there is normally slightly better over there than what you would get over here.  Good luck.

The Garanti Bank gave me the same - 2 650 000 - exchange shops are there and thereabouts. Also you can take money out of autobanks here but remember there is a charge for this from your own UK bank.

We have always found the Post Office in Fethiye gives a very good rate without all the form filling you have in the Bank.
