EasyJet Hand luggage
« on: July 26, 2013, 20:17:42 PM »
EasyJet used to allow 'unlimited' weight for hand luggage, provided it conformed to the size restrictions and provided you    could lift your case or bag into the overhead lockers without assistance.  I now see that they are restricting hand luggage to 5k.  This could catch a lot of people out as well as the size of permitted hand luggage sizes being reduced.

20 kgs pp   5 kgs pp   0 kgs pp   Any 2 Free (Push Chair, Travel Cot, Car Seat)   42GBP per 3kgs   -   -

Rules
*One piece of hold and hand luggage per passenger is included in the price as standard
If extra weight purchased, no single case can be heavier than 32kgs
If extra weight purchased, it can be shared amongst bags in same party

How to purchase
Additional weight can be added to your booking just before entering your card details when the live flight price is checked.
Everything else can be purchased after you have made the booking.

I don't think you are restricted by Cabin Bag weight, just size.

From Easy Jet website
Our cabin bag guarantee means you can make sure your bag travels with you in the cabin, even on the busiest flights.

To take advantage of the guarantee, simply bring ONE slightly smaller bag no bigger than 50 x 40 x 20cm including handles and wheels and we’ll guarantee it will travel with you either in the overhead locker or, if necessary, under the seat in front of you.

You can still choose to bring ONE slightly bigger bag up to the maximum size of 56 x 45 x 25cm including handles and wheels, but on some busy flights your bag may have to go into the hold.

easyJet plus cardholders, FLEXI fare, easyJet plus Upfront or Extra Legroom customers, can continue to bring ONE piece of cabin baggage no bigger than 56 x 45 x 25cm including handles and wheels – and use easyJet plus Speedy Boarding to board first in order to secure space in the overhead lockers.

So if keeping your cabin bag with you is a priority, why not bring a slightly smaller bag (which is still big enough to hold all your travel essentials) and we guarantee it will not go in the hold – even if the flight is full.

I don't know which site you are looking at Ray, but the EASTJET site regarding luggage says nothing of the sort.  Read it here;

The 5 kg charge refers to increasing the hold luggage weight from 20kg to 25 kg!
