If you do check your luggage to go through from Manchester to Istanbul, you will have to find the bus as you land at the Dalaman domestic terminal which will take you then to the International terminal for you to collect your luggage and clear customs.

It sounds much more complicated than it is.

Sorry to hijack your thread, Bernie, but just want to double-check on this as I'm doing Manchester - Dalaman via Istanbul in February.....

Rimms, does this tend to be an automatic thing? I'd assumed I'd check luggage in at Manchester, reclaim it at Istanbul, then re-check it in for Dalaman from there. I'd have had no idea about it going to the international terminal and would no doubt have ended up stressed that my luggage was lost.....

I'd also have told my lift that I'd be arriving at the domestic terminal...but by the sounds of it he'll need to meet me at international as usual.....

As they used to say at the end of Soap (for us oldies that remember it) - "Confused? You will be....."  :

Yes, if you check bags in at the UK airport and have booked a connecting flight at Istanbul the bags will be transferred to DLM international terminal for customs, the airport provide a minibus transfer to the international terminal when you arrive at the domestic terminal. It's is a quick and easy process. We have had this with both PGS and Turkish Airlines.

So to be clear - and sorry for being a pain  - I don't have to reclaim my luggage at Istanbul, it will automatically be transferred to the domestic flight to Dalaman, and all (? : ) I have to do is get to the international terminal and find out where it's being unloaded?

Yep. Provided that the tags they put on at Manchester say DLM.

WB, it is really easy and as KKOB says, just check your tags say DLM. I remember there is a time limit at Istanbul where if your stop over is more than 12 hours (May be less) you have to collect and rebook in. We usually have just over a hour with PGS so it's straight through with no worry about waiting for bags at Istanbul. At DLM you are met as you enter the terminal for the short ride across to the international terminal.
