You can always tell the upper classes

Here we have suggestions, "Manchester Tart", "Gypsy Tart", "Lemon Curd Tart", then of course we have Lady Pookie's "Millionaire's Shortcake" :D

Hi all, was wondering if anyone can help, ive been trying to think of a yummy school dessert i had back 1994 (ish) its a pastry bottom with a thick thick gooey yellow looking topping, sometimes was topped with coconut sprinkles, would anyone have a clue what im going on about? i would love to try and find the receipe, so far someones come up with 'creme patissiere' but this is more like a filling for eclairs etc.. the 'gooey' stuff im talking about it really really gooey and sweet.
Any help on this would be brilliant! Thanks. Anna x  :)

Manchester tart used to have thinly sliced bananas in at our school. Mind you that was the 60,s and before they cut back on fruit and veg!! but it did have a thin layer of jam, custardy topping and sprinkled with coconut. mmmm!!!
