Ah - so you bought a French car - well you should have bought a Ford - it is probably some Camembert stuck in the fuel jets - I hear they get a lot of that happening in France.

Self inflicted really :D :D

You've really let the side down mate. I'm sure the standard reply should have been, 'How often do I have to do that ?' ;)

Actually the CMAX has been known to just cut out at times. There is a Ford owners forum full of complaints and the garage never seem to find out the answer (luckily mine was never a problem)

It's probably to do with the engine managemtn if anything.

The garage said I should have turned it off and on again and that would have cleared/reset it. That's easy to say but my experience of being miles from home with a spluttering car is never turn it off as you will not be able to start it again and be stuck! Keep it going at all costs  :)

Many years ago I had a Nissan that had a similar problem and every so often it would just cut out. It happened once in the outside lane of the M1. I was lucky it was late at night and I was able to get to the hard shoulder. I eventually got it to the Nissan dealer who said there was not a problem with the car. It happened again and the garage took it away and it came back with the same problem. As the car was nearly new I got onto Nissan UK. I threatened them withthe Sale of Goods Act and they sent an engineer to look at it. It actually cut out when he was driving the car. 3 days later the car was replaced with a new one. The old one was shipped back to Japan. About 6 weeks later I got a call from Nissan UK to thank me as they dismantled the car and found a problem with some part. They also gave me 2 years free servicing. That is what I call customer service.

Scunner, sorry I know it does not help with your problem.

Think they should have said it "might" have reset it. Indeed it might , but as you say thats the last thing you want to do miles from home. Need  ctrl, alt ,del buttons on modern vehicles !
