I'm sure you'll find something to wash it down with shamless2  ;).

Funnily enough this topic is all about chocolate logs.

In the syphon there is a piece of polythene, after a few years it tends to get a bit stiff (wait for the comments), it will lift the water to start the syphoning but is not flexible enough to let the full amount of water through. Change the polythene or buy another syphon complete.

Thanks diverbaz1 - I'll look at that although I have to say the cistern is only about a year old.

The float ball is located actually inside the cistern with the water. You can adjust the (usually plastic) arm to raise it up a bit and let more water in. Not too much mind!

Pour a bucket of water down the loo. If this doesn't shift it then your soil pipe is blocked somewhere (call dynorod). If it does shift it then either your cistern in the back part of the loo needs adjusting/replacing or you need a new loo.

It could be frozen. Walk back up the garden to the house and call a plumber.

Doctor phones a Plumber at 11:30pm

Doctor:   My toilet is blocked. You will have to come and have a look at it.

Plumber: At this time of night you must be joking

Doctor: Look !  How many times have I come out to see you or your family at all hours when you phoned.

Plumber: Oh ok then.

Plumber arrives at the house and has a look at the toilet. After a few moments he produces two small pills from his pocket, throws them into the toilet and says to the doctor

If it isn’t any better in the morning call me again

I don't think that will work.
