9/11
« on: September 11, 2015, 06:34:53 AM »
Hard to believe it was in 2001.   I think this is one of these times when everyone remembers what they were doing when they heard the news.
We were over in Ireland staying with Phil's Mum.

We were in the Harem at Calis and wondered why all the commotion next door When a waiter came and told us America was under attack Very scary time

I was in my office at work, my daughter though was staying with a friend in Manhatton. She woke up after her friend left for work and the TV was on in the lounge, she honestly wondered what disaster film was showing. Stunned disbelief when she realised, horrific and heartbreaking. Truly shocking.

You are on dangerous ground Jacqui.

I seem to recall being taken to task for asking that question in 2007.  :)

No reason to be taken to task for remembering such a terrible event.   We visited N.Y. after the event and saw 9/11 it actually made me cry when I read all the stories on the railings.
Then when we were told that the big tent at the Hospital was there to try and identify the tiniest piece of bone for D.N.A. to give families some closure.

Jacqui, are you sure you don't mean Ground Zero which is the site of Twin Towers and where all the photos of people still missing and their stories were posted on railings of a small church alongside Ground Zero.
We went to New York exactly 6 months to day the after 9/11 (booked beforehand by the way, not just to go and see the devastation it caused)  We also saw Ground Zero and it affected me too, but 9/11 is merely the date of the attacks, I've never heard the site referred to that way.

Yes it was Ground Zero, but I put 9/11 so people would know what I meant.  Very sad place, so may awful stories and also wonderful stories of heroes.
Only KKOB would care about the wording and not the sentiment.  As long as he gets a cheap shot he is happy.

Bit unkind I think Jacqui and I also think that everyone on here who know about 9/11 would also have heard of Ground Zero as you put it under the heading '9/11'.
