Why was this man even allowed back in the country in 2001.
He's had a great life of a celeb then decided he needed to come back for medical care, has cost the taxpayer god knows how many thousands to keep and treat. he should never been allowed back or released on compassionate grounds.

Mark rant over

Yes he should, on both counts.
The sentance of 30 years for robbing a couple of quid from a train was diabolical, nonces get less

Ronnie Biggs biggest crime was ridiculing "the establishment" and they've made him  pay for that.Jack straw is about to let the Lockerbie
Bomber go back to Libya "for humanitarian reasons".Do you remember when this guy blew a Jumbo Jet out of the sky, killing hundreds of people, and ruining thousands of peoples lives?Do you know how many known killers are walking the streets of this country, unpunished, and in some cases
shielded by the government, fugitives from other countries, and kept by you and I.??Bakri, the islamist extremist is in hiding in Syria, but you and I are paying to keep his family in this country. And the same with Hook Handed Hamza. To my mind Biggs is way down the list compared to some of these creeps.

Addendum:
If you stop and think about it,Some of these rightious politicians that have insisted on Biggs continued incarceration for theft are the same a*seholes that have been caught stealing off you and I,via their expenses. They remain unpunished, and free.!!!

I have  to agree with Crabbit as well.  The crime was spectacular in its day but there are far worse things happening now and they are out on good behaviour after serving half a sentence.

Then again thefamily of the train driver may have a different take on things.

Maybe if he'd not escaped and gone on to serve his time he would have been released much earlier - probably to go back to his life of crime.

Chances are he would have been released after about 15 years with good behaviour. Many of the others got reduced sentences.

He was a political prisoner Stoop, he wouldn't have got out earlier.
