If you have your own meter and depending on what values it is using, mg/dl or mmol/l the ideal glucose readings should be between 70 and 115 on the mg/dl scale, and 4 and 6 on the mmol/l scale. age and weight make no difference.

Www.Diabetes.co.uk Lance. Join the forum. This might also help. I only know about type 1 but I didn't think that weight and age is a factor.

I was told just to test in the morning before I have eaten (I am Type 2), I am normally in the range of 90 to 100. If I am above the 115 (depending how much above) I adjust what I eat for the day to bring the level down again.

100/115 is fine, don't worry about it, keep doing what you're doing, as the Dr told me.

If you do go higher, just watch the carbs you eat, bread anything with sugar, watch for hidden sugars in things.

Don't be afraid to have a treat now and again.

That table is really useful, thank you.   :)

Mr WB has is a type 2 diabetic; it was diet-controlled in the UK but he was on the verge of being put on medication.
Since moving here, his symptoms have all but disappeared with the change in diet - so much less fat and pretty much all fresh food.
It's only if he doesn't eat soon after getting up that he starts to feel a bit odd - but of course that could change, so helpful to be able to refer to this.
