Turkish style?? Indian Restaurant Edinburgh.
« on: May 04, 2012, 16:55:14 PM »
Not a Turkish Restaurant but with more than some associations. On a visit to Edinburgh where son No one works four days a week and where we worked and lived for a year or so some 40 years ago. Recommended by one of sons work colleges we paid a visit to Mosque Kitchen Restaurant  http://mosquekitchen.com  Check TripAdvisor for more reviews. Decided to book so when we rang the number the guy laughed and said "This is the mosque but will put you through to next door" The place is very smart and the Mosque is between the Restaurant and the Take Away. You choose from eat as much as you want for £10 or choose individual starters and mains. All served on polystyrene plate then you collect your own plastic knives and forks. No alcohol. Food? Yes it was good and a great experience. Very helpful and friendly staff. As the sign says on the outside of the restaurant. "Restaurant closed on Fridays for 3/4 hour  1.30pm for prayers"
Anyone have a review for this unique place?

lots of hype about this place in Edinburgh so thought we would give it a try....Wish we didnt tbh, rice was cold ,chicken skewers tasteless and service was more wham bam thank you mam.
Our Lacal shop owner uses the mosque and was kind enough to invite us to join him one evening for a meal after his prayers.
It suits its purpose as a kitchen that feeds the mosque but  I would never regard it as a place to have a good meal.
Lots of good eateries in the area that offer much nicer food, Hanedans ( spelling) is one of the best  Turkish eats if not the best we have tried in Edinburgh.

I would have a problem choosing from that menu.  A few of my favourites there.
