I do apologise, I meant to do this at the turn of the year. The poll facility on CBF has been removed as it may have been the cause of a few unrelated oddities so it's a low tech typing your favourites this year.
1. Restaurant of the year for you 2010
2. Bar of the year 2010 in your opinion.
I shall now reply to my own post, giving the impression that I am a right saddo.

1. Restaurant of the year for me = Recep's in the fish market. Predictable I know but it is fabulous and the fish market has an atmosphere that can't be copied anywhere in the World. If there was a "Highly commended" award then definitely Mozaik Bahce - as a family we all absolutely love it.
2. I don't have a favourite bar, I'm a restaurant person through and through and more so as I get older. The bar I admire the most is Scarlett Bar - we love the owners, the staff, and I love their dedication to putting something on, too many bars think Efes and a cd will do.

1. Ocakbasi Fethiye is my restaurant of choice - Shine in Hisaronu for non Turkish and we love the fish market as a special treat and great atmosphere all year around
2. Buzz Bar in Oludeniz when I get the chance to get out after midnight

Restaurant:
Dragonara (Hisaronu) for Chinese and excellent service.
Seckin (near otogar) for cheap and tasy Turkish food.
Curry Palace (Hisaronu) for Indian.
Bar:
Don't really use bars, but I do like Nil bar and restaurant

BOSTANS, wonderful food,wine and atmosphere and beautiful coffee's. The staff are fab and Recep and Carol are wonderful

Four seasons Ovacik the staff work non stop all night to entertain the food is excellent
Bostans for good food and great hosts and an excellent quiz

Mozaik Bahce was our favourite Restaurant.
Deep Blue bar in Fethiye.
Josephs in Calis.

For atmosphere, entertainment, and superb food I have to go with The Winehouse in Uzumlu for best restaurant also cafe Inn for food as a close second and as you all well know, I don't frequent bars:D ;)

Restaurant & bar in one for me is 4 Seasons in Ovacik, as Mark said the guys work tirelessly to provide excellent food and service, after you have eaten there is usually some great entertainment to follow.

Restaurant = Bella Mamas
Bar = Maya (Nevra and Sezgi deserve to succeed with their new venture).
I agree with Scunner about Scarlett. Every year the guys try and improve it in some way. Pity I'm too old for it now:(

It is difficult to pick just one, but for us it would be Bella Mama with a close second being the fish restaurant Okyanas (not sure of spelling) the one in front of the Area hotel.
For the bar - it would be the Merhaba, always a friendly greeting from John, Jo, Sylvie & Mehmet. Look forward to seeing everyone in May.

Four Seasons Ovacik no contest. Great food. great staff and owner and great entertainment. Best bar Fethiye Kismet. Brilliant company and a lovely place to sit and while away the hours and hours and hours and musnt forget the Sundial which is really our local. The most magic place in Fethiye and Murat is wonderful. :D

We have three fav bars Meri Bar Hasan and Gulsam always so friendly and welcoming and if I am on my own I never feel uncomfortable there, Meeting Point we like again Ahmet and his nephew Agit very welcoming also we like to eat there so that is a restaurant choice, also the Nil Bar we like for beers and food we never get pressurised into having a menu if we just want drinks.Also like Cafe Pazar on a Sunday after the market and Cafe Inn is good too.Oh how I wish we were there now!

Bars, only normally do "early doors", but Car Cemetery and Deep Blue.

George's Restaurant, Joseph's Bar for us.

If in Fethiye Mozaik for food and The Kismet Bar for drink.In Calis its Bostans for food and the Anna Apart Hotel bar for drink.Pudding of the year would be Carol's Sticky Toffee Pudding at Bostans

mm, difficult, it would all depend on the mood ! Could we change the title to best restuarant according to your mood ?!
It would have to be:
Relaxing turkish : Mosaik Bahce without a doubt
Cosy, atmospheric turkish : Winehouse Uzumlu
Sundial - something different with fab views
BBQ - Oba, Kaya
Something special : The Aubergine, kalkan
Truely turkish to while away a tranquil afternoon/evening: Golbashi at Dalyan - watching the turtles fight over your offerings !
bars ? don't do bars - but the Winehouse Uzumlu is always good for a few drinkies !

Mercan and Hilmi at Fishmarket or Kefal in fethiye near Kismet for fish
Hamsi for turkish
Starfish Bufe Yaniklar for the location, the service, chilling, and the best prawns in the area, so everyone tells me!
Deep Blue and Kismet for drinks
Georges in the summer Just to watch the world go by and Serkul batting kittens!

Best Restaurant - Obens, Calis Beach by Saros apartments.
Very friendly helpful staff, family run and Mama will cook anything that you ask her to....nothing is too much trouble! :) Very reasonably priced too.

"Shine" Indian (ye si know its Hisaronu but its my consistent favourite.
Mango bar in Fethiye - especially when Pasa is singing live there.

Does this say something about Turkish food or the holidaymaker when people come on holiday to Turkey and choose an Indian or an Italian restaurant as their favourite?

my prefered restaurants are calis ( alo 24 )...fethiye ( pasha kebab ).....prefered bars calis ( nil and guvans )....fethiye ( deep blue )

It was pork steaks with cauliflower cheese,mixed veg,roast potatoes and apple sauce last night all for 10tl.Just yummy and once again excellent value for money.

I didn't actually have a real favourite for 2010. Things change, people move on.
Maybe this year I will have a favourite again.

I would definately recommend 'Dennis The Menace' it serves great food I would recommend chicken piri piri if you like spicey food, but if you want something more tradition the mousakka it is amazing. Great staff, very friendly, all customers are treated the same. Been coming here for years, some of you might remember it as Bamboo. For anyones information I am a customer at Dennis The Menace and not an employee.

In response to "cagdasarah11" posting.talk about blowing your own trumpet.I think the more they push their own bar/restaurant the more people will stay away.They seem to be using the forum as an advertising tool.

Difficult to choose a favourite restaurant main ones for us are:
Mangal - main street in Calis
Harem - on the front in Calis
Recep's - in the fish market Fethiye
Don't have a favourite bar as we are more restaurant people and tend to prefer to have a drink with our meal, though we do sometimes like to have a pre dinner drink in Anna's bar on the front in Calis.

For those who are coming back to Calis on holiday this year, of course you will all have your favourite places to eat, but if you like seafood you must visit the fishmarket in Fethiye for a fab and authentic meal out, it is open all year and is my place of choice to eat out all year round, we go every Saturday for our night out

I personally go to Mercan and Hilmi but I am sure everyone on the Forum also has favourite places there

Agreed Julesp - we always make a point of going to the fish market when we're in Calis. Usually once for a lunch and then again for an evening meal as the atmosphere is completely different. We love it.
