Came out again in July & loved the place- totally unpretentious. Great food & for those who are fussy, you can see the meat being cooked, lovely guy, can't do enough to make sure you have a nice evening. Real food(and plenty of it),genuine Turkish hospitality. Isn't that why we come to Calis in the first place?

Do you mean Uzy per chance ?  ;)

Nice to hear of people praising the Er OZ, we stayed there for donkeys years before we bought our Apt, we still walk in and out like we still belong there as the owner treats us like family. It's a bit like fawlty towers but with more charm! :D

I thought Ouzzy moved from the Er Oz and went to the Mimosa, a bit further along.

Strangely, Uzi didn't seem to be as pestersome (new word) and intense once he moved from Er-Oz. Nice guy but he was a right pain on that corner.

Pestersome? Liking that one!  Yes he seemed to have calmed down a lot last year, I've heard that his restaurant is busy so maybe he is playing the waiting game now?  ;)

Went to Sardunya three times in the last two weeks in Calis on Scunner's recommendation.  Lovely place, food was fab and the first place we have received big wine glasses.  My husband loved the Turkish liver and onions said it was the best he had tasted.  The place was busy and we liked the fact that a lot of Turks are eating there.  Also always received either free garlic bread and/or free melon and grapes or coffee/tea.  Very reasonably priced 44 lira for 3 course and drinks for two.
Highly recommended don't miss it.
Jacqui.
