« on: June 18, 2010, 17:25:55 PM »
im on the quest to find the best salad in calis, i had my first at mimoza beach club yesterday. it was ton balak or tuna and was nice but a bit small but it was on the starter menu as they didnt have a main salad menu. today i went to mutlu past surf cafe and there chicken ceaser salad was lovely but it wasnt ceaser! it had no ceaser dressing, parmasan.cheese, crutons but the bread and the garlic butter was to die for.i will carry on my quest and keep you posted and if anyone has a good one could you please let me know where. not the bad ones please! im going to try every salad in every restaurant this summer and put it on the forum x

The subject of salads in Turkey is an intriguing one. I would say if you can rid your mind of the finely cubed cucumber/tomato/onion style, the amazing traditional "spoon salad" of the likes of Ocakbasi is a saladacious education.

I am also regularly shocked to see how much effort every day gents such as builders and complex workers put into the preparation of meals for all male consumption. Where most of us blokes would cut the tomato in half, slice a cucumber into half inch discs and rip off a few lettuce leaves, Turkish men prepare a perfectly diced fine salad, even when there isn't a woman in sight.

I just wish they'd leave the cucumber in big enough pieces to pick out easily [:(!] hate it[:(!]
