That is my understanding of the term in urban parlance. However, my feeling is that he was quite possibly called it because of his preference for the wearing of camouflage trousers. Maybe others can confirm this or offer a different reason for the name.
He was always a very nice fella, I wouldn't like you to think I was saying anything else. My memory of him was as a painfully shy guy, very little English and more there to empty ashtrays and hose the floor than to entertain. Mind you, I remember fire eater Murat (Post Office, Bus Stop, U2) as a shy, very reserved guy too
