heard last night that as from march 1st. all live televised football will be forbidden. anyone confirm otherwise?
-
Didn't hear anything like that.
-
There's an article in the Hurriet Daily News saying the Government are banning
the screening of the world cup matches of an evening during Ramadan.
They will be screening Islamic programmes instead.
They'll probably have commercial breaks, advertising Ayran and the likes. :(
It was announced by deputy PM Bulent Arinc.
-
No big loss for England, they will be back in the UK after a couple of weeks and can watch all the rest of the tournament. ;) :D
-
If I remember rightly, the bars close on election day.
-
trying to be serious here. not for the first time I have heard this. going to be a big loss to the bars in turkey. anybody out there? echostar?
-
I am being serious
Diverbaz 1 is being serious
The Hurriet Daily News are being serious
You asked, we answered.
-
kevin 3. point taken. but I was talking about all premiership games.championship games and champions league. probably just a calis rumour but was asking if anybody else had heard this.
-
Jack
If cenk hasn't heard anything and there's no knowledge of it from
anyone else on here i'd opt for the rumour. ;)
-
Well as most of the bars take their football from Middle East, Albanian and even Italian satellite services, in part so the commentary is in English, I think most of us will get to see the games anyway, even if they are on at daft o'clock times.
Personally I cannot see even Reg doing something so stupid as taking off the football from the Turkish TV services, particularly as there are votes to be had this year in the local election and constitutional referendum.
-
good point ubt. watch this space.
-
did anyone watching the footie last night on bein sport notice on the bottom left hand corner of the screen go secure 3 days to go? anyone?
-
I didn't know there was any football on last night. Well not any exciting teams anyway, just boring Chelski and even more boring Maureen ;)
-
Big blow for the bars and us `footie` fans out here :( The `luxery` of being able to choose what premiership match to watch on a saturday at 5pm on `BEIN ` has now gone :-( its one game and one game only I am afraid from now on... so all the many bars with multiple monitors will only be showing the one match... ah well we had a good run.... was great when you could choose your game.
-
I was in Guvens yesterday and he had three games going at the same time?
-
Personally I would,nt mind a bit. if it is taken off, although I like football , there is nothing worse than going out for an evening meal and some after dinner drinks, than having people around us jumping up and down with the foul language they use if their team lost . try to remember you are abroad, and the restaurants have to try and make a living for 6 months of the year, not just cater for football fanatics, ;)
-
Des,, I completely agree with you. I love football, but it is only the saturday 5pm matches I am talking about... and in fairness most people wont be `wining and dining during those two hours.... its the `late games` and mid week games that ko at 10pm that are the real nuisance when one is out and about.... but why do restaurants want to show games ??? crazy... nothing worse, and we steer well away from restaurants showing football .
It really is `in yer face` everywhere... thankfully when the world cup starts we will be back in the UK.. it will be a nightmare scenario here in Hisaronu those three weeks.. thankfully / probably England wont get through the opening rounds so it may quieten down towards the end weeks :-)

the after dinner drinks sounds good. where? lol
