Just been reading that the Spanish Taxman is now hot on the heals of expats and foreign owners who rent out their properties and do not declare the income.
It seems that they think they are missing out on millions of Euros in tax as some owners are renting out to friends and family for 'cash in hand' payments. Their argument is that it puts the legit businesses at a disadvantage.
Interestingly they seem to know, by the number of people arriving on flights, how many 'illegal' beds are being rented out.
So it 'aint just Turkey where this is happening.
The Euro Taxman cometh as well!
Oh - I forgot to mention - they are also trained to look at local newspapers and websites for anyone advertising their property for rent who has not registered it with the Spanish Tourist Board.
